The Necelina McDonald Memorial Foundations Basketball Tournament is being held this weekend (Fri - Sun) at the Aviator Sports complex in Brooklyn. There are several age groups, our guys would be playing in the under 19 group.
I can't find anything on who is on what team and the latest results are from Friday. Nothing from Sat yet. I googled Aviator then Necelina McDonald Memorial Foundations Basketball Tournament.

He's been reading this forum. Pretty much along the same line of what we've been saying.

Easiest write-up for Amedio to do. Just take last years and change the names. The only thing that surprises me is that he didn't wait for the late signing period to end.

Had a chance to coach the the kids as well as watch and I tell you what sign a big man and marist has a fab5 at the mid-major level. This was my first time seeing some of these kids up close the lewis kid is very impressive, though he did struggle on sunday playing against guys 25and under(grown men). Was also impressed with mortons ability to score the ball while keeping others involved he and lewis put up big numbers with exception for the last game with lewis. Manny Thomas is future captain material just an overall great unselfish kid smiles alot solid all around will easily fit in seems to care only about winning. As for curry was an absolute surprise is a very good player strong as an ox makes very few mistakes and solid 3pt shooter defended a kid from western kentucky and did a solid job he is going to be a good player. Yankee will have that scouting report for you tomorrow. Been doing this for a while after watching lewis put up about 25 with two jackhammer dunks, morton put up 30 on herbie allen former fairfield pg who is now playing overseas, curry hit a game winner at the buzzer, and thomas do a lil of everything with an infectious smile could only imagine these kids along with the other marist players. Marist will be good next year and then very good the next 3 yrs.

Thanks for the update Pearl.. It's great having you on the board. This sounds really good. And they say Manny is just scratching the surface of his game.. Let's get that big this year and do some damage this year. I love the attitude of these guys.

Pearl's report has got me wanting that big man. Does anyone have any info on whether Chris Ortiz or Amdy Fall have taken official visits yet?

Talk about immense expectations for these kids coming in next year. No matter how much we like these recruits, its still a poor job having so little experience to help the fab 4/5. In particular, I don't expect much from Manny Thomas next year. I just don't think he is going to get the time some of you seem to be expecting. He is described as an up and comer. It is not fair to expect anything more than 10 minutes a game from him. I do believe Morton and Lewis will have to contribute big time right away, 25-30 minutes a game. I see those 2 as being the guys who will give us the production in terms of numbers. Curry is another guy we should not expect big things out of right away. He sounds like a depth guy who is a great presence in the locker room. Ratings are not the end all, but they give you idea. I hope everyone is still putting the same expectations on this coach. He needs to get 9-10 MAAC wins. And I just don't see that with so many freshman expected to make big contributions. Also, if he doesn't get another big guy, he is going to have these kids confidence shot getting banged in the middle. We are all excited by the new guys and their seeming confidence. Martin can't allow it to be sapped like what happened to his first recruiting group.

Martin can't allow it to be sapped like what happened to his first recruiting group. This year is ALL about the coach. Off the court he and the staff need to prove they can navigate the program through the season without the types of academic problems and off season defections that have plagued their tenure to date. I agree that expecting him to produce a .500 MAAC record with a team that is going to rely on Freshman is unrealistic. Yes, we cn all hope they overachieve like Siena did in McCaffery's first season, but I don't think Martin has recruited the second coming of Moore, Franklin and Hasbrouk either. So on-court he needs to prove that he can prepare a team to compete on a consistent basis and improve players skill development and performance as the season progresses. While all the pieces are not yet in place, Pearl777 has me convinced that there is enough raw talent on this team to expect a competitive product by the time the 11-12 season winds down. It's not fair to judge this season - up or down - on a number of wins. It is fair to expect that by seasons end the staff has developed a solid core rotation on which to build. It's been a long time since a Marist MBB fan could say they wouldn't trade this or that Marist player or group of players, for any of their counterparts in the MAAC. I'd really like to be able to honestly say that by the end of next season. Then the wins will come.

Scouting report
Manny Thomas- Manny is a good athlete solid shooter from midrange okay shooter by the 3pt line. He has a solid handle not going to blow by you with it thinks the game at this point as a 3/4 but seems like the adjustment to a 2/3 will not be difficult. Plays within the framework of the offense doesnt look to create his own offense. Overall great kid with a very good team persona, hasnt really scratched the surface of full potential. He needs to definitely get stronger and continue to improve range on shot in addition to using more of his length on defense. Should be a solid player at marist.
T J Curry- T J is a very physical guard with a d-1 body already, he is a solid shooter up to the 3pt line, he makes very few mistakes on the court plays within himself, perfect compliment player for star players. Has the ability to have a better college career than expected, can be a lockdown defender. Has the ability of being a combo guard at the maac level will have some breakout games. Needs to continue to improve accuracy on his shot also will have to develop into more of a point guard unless athleticism is improved. If he proves he can run a team will compete for time at the 1 and 2, overall a very solid get for marist.
Isaiah Morton- Isaiah is a very explosive scorer with very good atheticism for height. Is a blur with the ball in his hands from endline to endline. Very good shooter from beyond 3pt line to midrange. Isaiah is a great passer howbeit at times tries to make the spectacular pass too much. Very tough kid as was shown by d-1 players having to double team him to stop him from creating offense for himself and teammates. He needs to continue to get stronger as well as focus himself more on the defensive end as he will be overmatched alot on the d-1 level. Shot selection can also be a problem as he has to learn when to look for his shot as opposed to being a playmaker. Overall a steal for marist has the ability to be a great player at this level.
Chavaugn Lewis- a very gifted scorer as he can score in so many ways, can legitimately play the 1,2 or 3. Has the ability of creating own offense, very good not great athleticism. Decent shooter at the 3pt line better shooter from midrange. A long player who has the ability of going to foul line alot. Lewis has star written all over him as does morton. Easily the best 2/3 guard in nyc class 0f 2011. At this stage in his career he must get stronger struggled against a stronger but much older d-1 player this past weekend, must continue to improve accuracy on shot and continue to be more of a playmaker for others in addition to scoring himself. Must also focus himself defensively as he has good length. Overall an absolute steal at this level, marist has signed a player who should be a flat out star.
