Well the offseason is here and for many of us it didn't get here soon enough.
Here we can talk about what we think needs to happen, what does happen, etc.

My explanation as to my transfer candidates:
T. Kennedy - this one would hurt, (TK is a true leader and some who can help lead the culture change that we will talk about in depth later) why do I think she will leave? I think with the rehab, the way season played out, and the fact that the NCAA has made it easy to jump ship she will take advantage of that. Why stay? Get the Marist degree as a Senior and be a grad transfer following year.
E. Wax - Why would she leave? She wants to start, she wants more PT, she must know those minutes are not coming at Marist. Why stay? Keep scholarship
Z. Shazer - Why would she leave? She has not bought into the system, has not embraced Marist's culture, doesn't listen to staff, she thinks the grass is greener elsewhere. Why stay? Not wanting to leave Fisher.
A. Ellison - Why would she leave? Homesickness - to be honest I think she is the least likely to happen. She wants PT so if for some reason she thinks that won't happen when Fisher gets back and Piddock coming in. Why stay? She got the playing time she wanted and showed she can run the offense.
M. Rife - Why would she leave? She has to know she is in over her head. Why stay? Its a free ride.
IF Shazer did leave - I think Fisher would leave IF she didn't have to sit.

Changing the direction of this team doesn't mean we will win the MAAC, it means we see the culture we are used to, it means we see kids wanting and enjoying to be together on and off the court.once we know who is
1) Come summertime - whoever is on roster need to make it a point to change the negativity and culture.
2) Those on roster - need to buy into the system and listen to coaches.
3) We need scholarships
4) We need transfers - which can not happen without a 15th scholarship or kids leaving.
Now kids leaving is a two edged sword - the good we get the much needed scholarships, the bad other coaches will use the exodus to sell a toxic environment.
Naming Erin coach in waiting is going to help.

Unfortunately I think TK makes, it would be hard to convince her to play through the rebuild.
Wax has been disappointing, showing no progress through 2 years - I was high on her.
I really want Zar to stay, only if she can buy in
I really hope Anabel stays, she has turned into a really solid players on both sides
The fact Rife barely played this year should show her a lot

Beating TG28 to the punch but Coastal Carolina leading scorer and rebounder from Allentown PA is in the portal. 19.7 ppg and 9.5 rpg. Probably wants to go high major though.

I've been looking at all of the 4/5s that have at least two years of eligibility left the last few days.

I have no problem with that, she just finished her senior year, so she gave Coastal 4 good years. Wants to move up for her Covid year. 5'11" and built like a fireplug, you wouldn't think she was a basketball player if you saw her out of uniform, but she is basically unstoppable once she gets position on the low block, and can also knock down a fair amount of treys as well. Good luck Aja!

The transfer portal will blow up in the coming weeks - of course the portal is useless if we don't have scholarships.... My running candidates: (They must be someone we previously recruited, or are from NE, and not averaging 27 ppg from UConn) Bold Red are ones off table
Jala Jordan 6'2" (Auburn) Grad from Philadelphia - Seton Hall
Aja Blount 5'11" (Coastal Carolina) Sr from PA - Tulane
Miksyla Markham 5'7" (Columbia) Grad from NJ - 6.7ppg in 2020 also shot .481 from 3 (dropped dramatically this year but she has shown she can hit 3 )
Tess Sussman 5'11" (Harvard) Grad from MA - 8.9 ppg, shoots 3 @ .333 - we went after her in HS
Klark Sconiers 6'2" (Minnesota) JR from Queens NY - Delaware
Abby Meyers 6'0" (Princeton) Grad MD - Maryland
Gabby Smalls 6'2" (St. Joe's) Soph. from NJ - 7.3 ppg

Do we know if players/teams opted out for the 2020-2021 season, they will get a total of 5 years still? I.E. player graduating this year from Ivy League and only had the three seasons of playing, do they get two more or just the one as a grad student?

They get an extra year of eligibility - but not multiple - so say a player was going into her Sr year - of she played she gets the fifth year, is she opted out the ncaa still treats it as if she played but she does get 5th year.
Or another way to put it as far as eligibility …. Whatever your eligibility was at end of 19-20 season it was same after 20-21 season as of it never happened (whether you played or not)

Makes sense and that's what I assumed. Basically, IVY League players graduating at the end of this season will only have the one grade year and not two.

I'm sure the staff is already on top of the portal. Let's get back to Marist culture.
