The transfer portal will blow up in the coming weeks - of course the portal is useless if we don't have scholarships.... My running candidates: (They must be someone we previously recruited, or are from NE, and not averaging 27 ppg from UConn) Bold are ones I think we could realistically get. Bold Red are new as I updateJala Jordan 6'2" (Auburn) Grad from Philadelphia - 6.4 ppg 3.9ppg Aja Blount 5'11" (Coastal Carolina) Sr from PA - averaging 20 ppg Miksyla Markham 5'7" (Columbia) Grad from NJ - 6.7ppg in 2020 also shot .481 from 3 (dropped dramatically this year but she has shown she can hit 3 ) Tess Sussman 5'11" (Harvard) Grad from MA - 8.9 ppg, shoots 3 @ .333 - we went after her in HS Klark Sconiers 6'2" (Minnesota) JR from Queens NY - didn't get much PT this year but pre pandemic averaged 6.7 ppg Abby Meyers 6'0" (Princeton) Grad MD 17.7ppg Gabby Smalls 6'2" (St. Joe's) Soph. from NJ - 7.3 ppg Kae Satterfield 6'0" (Xavier/OSU) Soph. from NY,NY Abby Streeter 5'11" (Hartford) Grad Nashua, NH made 78 of 187 three-pointers (41.7%); started her college career at Rhode Island Erika Porter 6'3" (Illinois) Soph. from NJReally wish you could have put Aja Blount in bold nomar. After watching her for the last 4 years, I would love to see her exchange teal and bronze for red and white. Even though you feel she might have her sights set on a Power 5 school, I think that might be a mistake for her as even though she has been a great mid-major player, I still think she would be a bit undersized against Power 5 post players.

Blount would totally solidify the front court for Marist for a year while Cunningham and Fox continue to develop.

I got to believe we will call her - my non-bolding her was she just looks too much like a candidate for higher level.

These are great for program - these transfers will help the culture to get back to where we are used to. It also now gives the staff 2 more scholarships they didn't have.
We have lost a
.288 FG% with .230 3pt FG%, .662 FT % shooter and PG with .9 Asst/TO Ratio - remember Best's was 4.48
and a
.244 FG% with a .280 3pt FG% (the fact that her overall FG% was lower then her 3 pt% tells you just have bad she was from inside the arc)
There will be people not in the know screaming how bad it must be at Marist with all these transfers - we know these are necessary

Its unfair to compare Ellisons stats with Best. Allie who rarely came out of the game and was the starting point guard on an All MAAC team (Duffle, Weimar, Barcello, Kennedy before surgery). Ellison averaged 24 minutes a game and was point guard on a team with a loosing record and 1 returning starter (post surgery still not 100%). You have to be kidding yourself if you go back and watch the Quinny, Rider, Niagara, etc games and you get done and you can say "glad she is leaving". Look at everything she did that didnt make the stat sheets (ie. charges) As for Wax, most of the time she was in she was out of her position. She was recruited as a shooting guard but was always put in as the reserve point guard. Its hard to judge people when they had to play out of their position. If Shazer had to play the 2 would we judge her for the stats she had at the end of the day. How is these 2 leaving going to change the culture? I really think they were both great Red Foxes. I saw them talking to people (kids) in the stands and Red Fox members on many occasions. They seemed to like it here. I wish them the best and hope they find some really tall green grass.

It will help change the culture because you could see they didn't want to be here, they were not happy and that creates friction - I have said it all year this team was a bunch of players who didn't look like they wanted to be here and these were 2 of them.
Their stats are their stats - you can try to sell me that Wax's bricks were because she had to play a 1/2 combo - Marist has ALWAYS had multiple ball handlers in back court - that is why they could break presses so well.
As far a Shazer I will judge her on her stats which were horrendous from Jan 30th on and she was in position - you can argue the losing Fisher hurt her (which means she can't play with Ellison).
I watch this team talk back , not follow scout, miss countless layups, no-one shot the 3 better then .300.... So no I will NOT miss either of them and YES I see this as an opportunity to move forward and improve this team dramatically - THAT couldn't be done with current roster!! So YEAH I think this is GREAT for program
The fact that I will not miss them doesn't mean I don't want them to end up somewhere happy

Not shocking but certainly disappointed. Enjoyed watching both of their careers here and wish them both the best.

Frees up backup PG role for Piddock. She can thrive alongside Fisher and Kennedy.
I liked Ellison for her willingness to take charges, rebound, etc. - but she was recruited for her offense/shooting and she provided very little in that regard. Not even a good free throw shooter.

Look, there are a lot of things that need improving on with the roster from this season but the way some of you all talk about these kids is a bit harsh. These are 18-22 year old women whose college experience was defined by a pandemic. We won a MAAC championship a year ago and you all loved them for it then. You can have highs without lows. The way you talk about peoples daughters is a bit ridiculous-you have every right not to like them but you're (likely) a grown adult bashing young adults. We've had rough seasons before then recruits showed up and bought into the system and culture. These kids probably know what you're posting online-this isn't exactly hidden.
The departing players are leaving for a reason-likely deserved. But you wish them well, thank them for their efforts and move on. Point blank.
We need to address a major, major weakness in the post. I hope we can find a hidden gem, a European recruit and/or a transfer from another conference looking to make an immediate impact.
