This is a real tough game for Marist. Not only is Iona possibly the best team in the league but they present a number of match up problems. Obviously Glover but Kyle Smith their 3 point bomber worries me alot.
Go Marist!

Agree, this is a tough game. Glover is going to get his points. Key will be Machado. He will get many oppurtunities. Maybe Marist should sag off him and see if he can hit his outside shots. If he can shoot 30 percent or under and Marist has 2 of the following 3 have career high scoring games (Prescott, Hall, Bowie), they might have a slight chance to make it interesting. I see Iona winning by about 14, but Marist will be able to score this game.

Marist a 21 point dog in this game. I was present for Iona at Siena in early January. In the first half Iona looked like a BE team, in the second half they looked like a MAAC PIG candidate.
Bottom line is I need to see Marist play smart with the ball and compete on the boards. I'm not crazy enough to think that Marist is ready to beat a team like Iona, at home when the Gaels are playing well. However, there will be no excuse for being a sloppy, no show, which we have seen far too much.
Smyth is a good perimeter player but he far from having the athletic ability that Jackson does. No reason he should be able to get open with any regularity like Jackson did.
Yankee, I like what you are saying about strategy against Machado. Anytime someone NOT named Glover is shooting the ball for Iona it's a plus for Marist.

Good job by Marist announcing crew...addressing the Korey Bauer situation. They acknowledged alot of folks are asking where he is? They asked CM and CM said "he's gotta earn his minutes.

Dreadful half so far for Marist. 20-11 Iona...11 points and 9 TO's in 12 minutes against a team that is not a good defensive team.

What an embarrasment. 31-13 Iona. Iona not even playing their first team. Machado and Glover have ONE point, yet Iona up by 18. This is inexcusable. 11 TO's and 13 points against a poor defensive team. Looks like they were not prepared to play yet again.

Nice job Martin. Down 34-16 at half without Glover and Machado doing anything. Guess you can say he has devised a decent strategy to contain Gluver? 16 points against a defense that even Iona fans say has been less than stellar, AWESOME. Also, Bauer is now confirmed as being benched because he "needs to earn his minutes". Martin, you had him getting his butt slammed around all last year as the only big man, he played like a warrior. Now he has to earn his minutes because you want to give your recruits some time on the court. Bullcrap what he is doing to this kids senior year.

A disgraceful half of basketball. One of the worst 20 minutes of Marist basketball over this horrid stretch of the past 2.5 years.
Iona played their third team. Big minutes and 4 points for Pelcher. Trinity Fields averages 0.3 ppg but he has 7 in the first half. Virtually no Machado, no Glover, ONE first half point yet Iona leads 34-16.
Iona gives up 73 ppg and allows 46% shooting by their opponents. Marist with 26% shooting, 13 TO's and on pace for 32 points. One of the most embarrassing, pathetic performances in a half for a team that already has many embarrassing, pathetic halves.

relax we are a work in progress everything will click next year and we will win 15 - no problem - this season is a fluke EVERYONE here SO WANTS to support this coach. But there are so many games like this. 1 positive game, 4 clunkers, positive half, 7 bad halves. 16 points against that defensive team and wit their 2 stars doing nothing. I think someone needs to put Bauer in a room with Martin, shut the doors and tell him Vegas time. Meaning what happens in the room, stays in the room. Slam him around till he is forced to put him on the court.

This team is just not good - I don't see the strides others do, what I see is other teams playing worse not Marist playing better. We are going to sit here and watch them suck for the next two years before everyone here realizes that Martin was not the right choice. There is NOT one thing that anyone can say to convince me he can coach.

And you just know Marist will win this half by like 5 points and make it seem like, "oh, progress" .

Will Marist crack 50 in this game? No team has been held under 52 against Iona all year and only two teams, St. Peter's and Niagara have been held under 62.
