whom ever came up with the idea of the Swedish National Anthem should own up to it. An absolutely great tribute to our lone senior player who sang his heart out. Kinda raised the hair on the back of my neck. I will miss you Toby.

Funny , I was going to post last game when Cavanaugh went in briefly and had 2 quick turnovers and that if thats all he can give us that we could throw a walk on out there and do the same or better . Maybe this is a good wake up call for him .We are more than a point guard away ., we are a point guard and a back up forward away . Like herasme and bell ..but Herasme shouldn't be playing 40 ..his shot suffers ,,defense suffers a bit..and free throws -30-35 is fine .Don't know whats happened to Makeny .

This team and this year has looked no different from years past. I like that many of you can pretend it was.

I will be fortunate enough to make it to AC, via a casino stop or two, but will miss Marist's surprise victory over the number 6 seed (Niagara or is it Iona?)on Tuesday night. With that said Thursday's upset over the 3 seed (Monmouth?) will be impressive, then I cant wait for all the bashers and nay-sayers to suddenly jump right back on the band wagon. "Think Positive DUDE"....easy to figure out, first one that gets it. I'll buy a beer for you at AC.

If it's Niagara that'll be a plus ,. We've beat them handily twice ..We used our height well against them .and have given them fjts defensively ..I haven't jumped off the ship all season and don't plan to now . Canisius is a sleeper in the tournament also ,glad we're not playing them .There are some that don't post on this forum until after losing games to do their ritualistic " we suck " .and if we win we generally don't hear from them . We've heard it from most all the announcers throughout the season ..This MAAC tournament is up for grabs ..how about if we grab it .I wouldn't be surprised ..It's John Dunne time now ..master of the MAAC tournament , coach that takes a seemingly under performing team and gets the most out of them .

I dont see an underperforming team. Just a ton of lack of talent. They legitimately played well in the middle of the season with a 5-4 stretch, that's a third of the year but they were 2-18 outside of that stretch. They really negated the good stretch with bad basketball beyond belief down the stretch. That was their easiest half of the MAAC schedule.
They have multiple useful players but they lack 2 stars and another depth piece before they can compete for a .500 or better MAAC season.
I wouldnt be surprised if they won their first round MAAC game but I dont expect it at this point. I would be very surprised if they won a 2nd

This is certainly not an excuse just a fact. I think this team is especially hurt by periods of rapid games because of the lack of depth. Dunne obviously decided he couldnt trust Cavanugh or Makeny down the stretch so they were playing with just 5 guys at the 1-4 spots.
If you look at their 5-4 stretch it come over a 31 day period (3.4 days between games). Down the stretch they played their final 6 games in only 13 days (2.2 days between). That just shows that lack of depth is still an issue on top of the lack of a star, PG, mobile guard

The above is why I wouldnt be surprised that when rested and hopefully pumped up, they have a good showing in round one of the championships but they are the least well equipped team to rattle off multiple wins over just a few days

Dunne i think sent a very clear message that there are no allegiances now ..this isn't the time to get freshman or anyone else court time to get "expierienced " its now all about winning . If it takes Ryan Carmello to do it ..so be it .

I had a discussion with Dunne about how difficult it is to tell a kid that going forward his PT is going away and he should consider the option of moving on, his answer was " it's not difficult at all, this is a business ". Based on that answer I can see him having that discussion with Cavanaugh and maybe Makney. This roster is at least two A type players away, Sagl and St. Furcy are 10-15 minute guys and Tordroff with Enoh coming in gets PT only when the 5's are in foul trouble. Cubbage looks exhausted, he has no lift on his shot and Herasme's defense suffers when he never comes off the court. Dunne knows he needs to hit a home run with these new recruits, another 7 win year and even the most optimistic fan loses faith in his program.

I've hesitated to comment much, but my thought is "Beware what you wish for." For years, I used to wish they would get rid of Magarity because I wanted to see more than a .500 record every year. I was thrilled when they finally made a change but as I look back on the debacle that's taken place since then, I wish we could go back to those days. It's amazing to me that year after year, coaches come and go, players come and go, and nothing changes. Here's another season that ends with a grand total of 7 wins, a last place finish in the MAAC and an 11th seed in the tournament. Sadly, I also suspect that, once again, and I hope I'm wrong, but the tournament will start and end the same day.
