We have to realize home run hitters aren't coming here until we get back to respectability Dunnes defensive philosophy will make it easier to get there as he plugs in talent. I still think Marist should look into getting a recruiting specialist assistant to help. When I talk about home run recruits it's in a relative sense, I'm talking about 350 ft. homers not a 450 ft. bomb, Byrd is a HR for Marist just need 2 or 3 more. im sure if we lose out on some recruits dunne will start thinking of the transfer portal as well .

I hate to be a downer but Dunne went out of his way to make the point that Enoh is not a savior, he'll be a solid post in the M.A.A.C. but don't be fooled by his 3 star rating coming out of H.S., not what I wanted to hear. Also unless St. Furcy makes a big jump in all aspects of his game he's a net negative, and Sagl is a tweener, too short or slow to guard most 3's and he can't get a contested 3 off as a SG. These 2 guys need to be recruited over with the incoming class, he needs to hit home runs not doubles. if anything , i think im pretty comfortable with the center position ..Jones starting ,,hopeing he continues to do well and getting some more bulk over the summer , with Enoh and Tordoff backing him up ..would like Tordoff to try being back up at the 4 ,i don't think we've done that this year .

We have 5 offers out (at least according to VC - (of course there could be more), which of those offers do you feel are "program changers" ? (that is what we are looking for correct?) Chad Venning 6'10" Brooklyn, NY - offers UMass, UC Davis, Manhattan Mohamed Wague 6'9" Bamako Mali - number of A10, MAAC and Northeast conference offers Noah Hutchins 6'0" Buffalo NY - some BCS offers - so are we a real option? Would he be considered a game changer - or would he just wind up taking min from Byrd? Nicholas Boyd 6'3" Garnerville NY - offers Tulsa, Sacred Heart, and Florida Atlantic Marty Silvera 6'1" Worcester MA - UMass, Missouri St., and 5 other MAAC schools So, let's hear your solutions. You seem to just want to blast what we are right now. Fine. But then I give a suggestion of a recruiting assistant. You respond with "what is that"?. What do you think will help? So basically you are saying our current Assistant Coaches who recruit suck and we need to bring in someone better - A Specialist.... so which coach do we fire to bring that guy in?? You can't pretend we have funds for an ADDITIONAL coach so who are you firing? And give me another "recruiting specialist " out there who isn't a D1 HC at this point in time. You think there is someone special out there that can sell the shit show that currently the Marist men's basketball program better than our current guys? or maybe just maybe.... Was Grasso this "recruit whisper" or was he selling a better product to athletes? I'm willing to bet he would not have come close to his recruiting success had he had to pitch Marist to same kids. So yeah your idea of an "recruiting specialist" is flat out stupid. You can come out and say we need to fire so and so and bring in a new assistant who was able to recruit at a 300+ RPI school and now they are 100 RPI because of his recruits and I'll listen.

There you go again. You always have to make it negative on the men's side. I didn't say the other coaches suck. I said a recruiting specialist would be helpful. Learn to comprehend and don't put words in my mouth son. Other teams have recruiting assistants, diesnt mean others suck. Be better.

You are so unrealistic, you suggestions useless. I can suggest we build a 3500 seat arena by next year..... the only MAAC team who even has a title "Assistant Head Coach/Recruiting Coordinator" is St. Peter's - EVERY other MAAC coach is called "Assistant Coach" so maybe one of OUR Assistants IS our Recruiting "Specialist"
You get your head out of your ass and pray Dunne and THIS staff figure out how to get those A players by next year.

I always have to make it negative on the men's side?... that is because there is a plethora of negative things to talk about. I can't make up good stuff - I don't point to one half of good basketball as progress to watch them blow chunks 48 hours later against what was the last place team in the MAAC

Why did you intimate I said the other assistants suck because I would like Marist to hire an assistant with recruiting as his specialty? Many teams do it. Grasso did it at Iona. Maybe Marist can find a young hungry guy with NYC/NJ area connections? Maker money coming free. Maybe use that? I'm not the budget guy. It's called brainstorming ideas.

Sagl will be fine a 3 point specialist like Funk was but he wont be more that a jump/spot up shooter. St Furcy just needs to gain some consistency which I think he will. I really like Herasme, Jones, and Bell for next year and hope those 2 freshmen take a nice jump. Hopefuly Byrd can help day 1 but we will see. We need Dunne to get us out of this hole and this year's recruiting will basically decide if thats the case

Well when you are right you are right. I wish we had a young hungry guy with NYC/NJ connections. It really sucks that none of our current coaches are young or hungry, and none of them know NYC from Burlington Vermont. JOKE Serge Clement - At Saint Peter's, Clement recruited All-MAAC selection Davauhnte Turner and Samuel Idowu, one of the top shot-blockers in program history. He was also instrumental in the development of All-MAAC honorees Desi Washington, Trevis Wyche, and Antwon Portley. He served as primary recruiter for 1,000-point scorer Kevin McMahon and two-year team captain Matt McGowan. He aided in the development of 1,000-point scorers Jesse Winter and Jeremy Smith. - Not sure but he sounds like a "recruiting specialist" - maybe we can get Dunne to change his title to make you happy.
Hey Dorian Long had the title of Recruiting Coordinator at previous job but that doesn't really cunt because it wasn't D1 - From 2016-18, Long served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator on head coach Doug Overton’s staff at Lincoln University. He recruited two CIAA All-Rookie players in his first season on the job - Jordan Camper and Deaquan Williams. Long implemented the team's defensive strategy, and they finished in the nation's top eight in two key categories: field goal percentage defense, and three-point percentage defense. Long also served as the program's academic liaison, and helped increase the team's grade-point average over 20 percent. He also successfully recruited and developed five All-Conference Players and four 1,000-point scorers. - he hasn't don't it for D1 team and he is from Philadelphia so no way does he know NYC and NJ

Mediocre coaches just don't go to the Big Dance ,,they just don't .Masiello's not mediocre nor is Cluess .. and if u check his teams in the tournament ,, there's been several times when they've played in the 3rd game in the MAAC tournament . After Maker it was a darn safe hire and we all know we needed that .A few less boneheaded plays this year and our record could be much different ..I'll reserve judgement on if this is a disappointing season when the season ends ...Lets hope for a Niagara loss tonight ..nothing like playing a team that you've beaten twice already this year .as St. Peters knew when they played us last year in the tournament . We cannot play Niagara in the 1st round. NU can be seeded 5, 7 or 8 but not 6. in tonight's games, if either Niagara or Iona win and the other loses, we will play 6 Quinnipiac. if those 2 both win, Iona gets the 6 and the Foxes; if they both lose the 6 seed becomes Manhattan.

Very good informative post. Still tinged with bravado and anger, but that's ok. I still think a recruiting specialist would be great. I could be wrong. Just a thought. But learn not to put words in others mouths.

Def focus on the guards is what I would do. we've talked about the need for a PG but they need a starting 2 as well. Someone who can can their own shot and score while the PG can get his own shot and others shots. As you said, maybe theres some other guys out there we dont know about that theyre looking it. They dont need to bring in an immediate ALL MAAC first player that gets them to 20 wins nexxt year, but I also dont believe they can afford incremental improvements. 7-22 to 11-18 next year isnt going to cut it. They need .500ish next year at a minimum IMO 14-15, 16-13 sth in that range would be fine. For that to happen they need: 2nd half Bell (15 games, 11.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 44% FG, 69% FT, 41% 3FG) and 2nd half Jones (15 games, 10.6 ppg, 55% FG, 76% FT) all year next year Herasme to be the same guy next year in 30 min instead of 38 Enoh to be better than Sjoberg or Tordoff Byrd and/or one or two other guard recruits to be better than Sagl, Cubbage and St Furcy One of the above mentioned new guys to be a true PG
