Just checked some unsigned PF's and this guy stands out for couple reasons. He has an 88 ESPN ranking and 2 NEC schools are his only listed interest. He is thin, but he can grow into that height. Make the phone call, and have Morton be the lead team player recruiter. He has the confidence and charisma to get players to come. espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/127110/darian-barnes

But can he play with his back to the basket? I think anyone Marist gets from a Big standpoint is going to have significant weaknesses in parts of their game. Thats just reality. I haven't seen the guy play, but his recruiting number piqued my interest.

Hopper is ok at best wouldnt be to upset by him not coming to marist more excited about peter prinslo than him. Peter has a year of experience under his belt just have to lift like a madman. Still need 2 forwards 4-5 type and a solid 4man we pick 2 players like that and its a big year. Hopper shoots more jumpers than the guards do we need 2 bigs who will man the middle, during the games I watched the interior defense was a joke but thats to be expected with young bigs. Though the fall kid is very thin he is a gifted shot blocker. I expect to hear good news any day about 2 bigs.

Coach, keep those insights coming! You're most definitely right about getting at least another big. If anything happens to Kemp as the roster now stands, you can forget about any kind of turnaround next year. Getting another big ( or 2) is way more important at this point then getting a shooting guard.
Nice to hear all the positives you see in Prinsloo. Can he play in CM's system?
RF5, did you ever hear back from Bill @ Recruitrecon? Would be interested to know what he's hearing about the recruits we signed and potential recruits.

Would agree with you prinsloo must be able to play in martins system but would also say a pure pg makes all the difference in the world. Watched a 7footer recently who underachieved his whole hs career whos headed to richmond univ only avg 9pts this season his senior year in hs. Watched the same kid play recently with a good pg and you would of thought the kid should be going higher than richmond good pg play transforms a team. Lets hope that the young guys coming in are ready sooner than later. My prediction is prinsloo looks like a different player next year. Without 2 bigs marist still we be a pretty good team, with two bigs who man the middle marist will be very good by mid season.

I've exchanged a few e-mails with Bill and he has updated our scholarship info and player interest on his site. I believe he is still working on more in depth details regarding the players we did sign.

Love your insight Pearl.. I like Prinsloo too. He just needs to adjust to the speed of the game and bulk up. Though thin, he didn't seem to mind mixing it up. He's got raw ability.
I want Fall. If they got him I'd be happy. A shot blocker to pair with Adam Kemp would be huge. I also like the Martin kid that was pointed out recently. How about a Ryan Stilphen type to go with Fall. Loved the way he played.

By the way, that Danny Basile they mention. I wonder if he is the same guy who played guard here?

This story mentions Danny Basile. Shouldn't we have an inside track on this kid if he's been coaches by a past Marist star???
