For anyone who doesn't know..PPS is points per shot. It measure offensive efficiency. It takes into consideration FG%, FT% and 3PTFG% as well as how often a player gets to the line and how often they convert a 3PTFG.
Anything under 1 is terrible with a capital T. 1.0-1.1 is below average, 1.1-1.2 is ok average-ish, 1.2-1.3 is solid to good, 1.3-1.5 is very very good and 1.5+ is outstanding. It's very difficult for a player who plays 30+ minutes to maintain a PPS of over 1.5.

I'm afraid to ask how many shots per game it would take to get to those numbers, how many fouls per game, TO's - lol. Honestly RF5 seems like a silly exersize... I realize that many people are grasping at straws to find the good in this team to find hope .... so we need to say we are happy they played hard, they where competitive (even when we lose by 16 we where competitive - for some of the game doesn't impress me), they didn't quit.... we will be saying the same stuff next year and still be near bottom of the MAAC.
I also love the ones who are basing our "improvement" on other teams getting worse. We wont improve but other teams will drop down to our level so our record will be better - ok.
Nice job on the stats though.

Alexis is so productive weather he looks "out of it" or not... the numbers do not lie. He should be getting the bulk of the minutes at the 3 spot.
RJ Hall and Devin Price are both productive. RJ is a better point guard that Devin in my opinion... I just feel that the two could have complimented eachother greatly this year and played about 20 minutes a piece minimum each game... playing Devin at the 2 some and giving whoever had the hot hand the + minutes. But that is neither here nor there. Bauer and Kemp are both very good rebounders and would have also complimented eachother well. Prinsloo should not have seen the court at all this year. If Watson can stay in shape and play longer stretches next year That would be huge. He is pretty productive per 40 minutes.. I still think that Rusin could have had a big year this year Although he was inconsistent. A lot of his inconsistency is due to how inconsistently he was played. He

Nomar I asked RF5 to post these stats.. not because I am looking for something to find hope in. I just wanted to see the players production and which players were actually getting the minutes to produce. RF5 thanks for the stats

Yeah point of these numbers is to put every one on a equal footing. If they all played 40 minutes and produced at the same rate the above is what the numbers would be.
As far as amount of shots to get those numbers...it really does not matter...the numbers assume that the shots per minute would be the same.
PPS really gives a very good read on how each player is maximizing their offensive opportunities. Prescott has taken more shots to get his production than Alexis or even Hall. That does not mean Prescott should shoot less. It likely points to the fact that Prescott can get shots more easily and in more diverse ways. Hall for example was thriving early on by knocking down open shots and using a quick first step to get to the basket....his PPS mid season was a ridiculous 1.7. As soon as D's started keying on him his numbers plummeted as he forced shots just before he flunked out as they open opportunities and paths to the lane closed down.
Prescott on the other hand has been keyed on for most of the year...he has more natural ability to get shots off against tougher D and to get shots off in a more athletic (difficult) way. He just needs to polish his ability to finish those more difficult opportunities...he's shown improvement in that as the year has gone along.

Nice job on the stats though. You are mixing up our points. When you say like you did above that they will still be at the bottom of the MAAC next year, we point out that the other teams will be in decline and Marist is improving. When you ask for where the improvement is, we point out the development of Prescott, Carter, Alexis, etc. And the way they were within 4 points with a couple of minutes to play at Siena, short-handed in foul trouble, etc. BTW, I find it interesting that you lash out at all the good hard work that RF5 did compiling all of these stats and bash it as a tool for the "clueless". Then when you find out it was done after being requested by one of your negative guys, its all good. Your first reaction is negative and you lash out before knowing the facts or wanting to hear them. I got to admire your consistency in that regard.

we will lose next year with this team - nothing and i mean nothing has shown me different - individual players accomplishments are useless unless they can play as a team - and yeah we might have more games where we are within 4-6 with 5 min left and lose by double digits - and if that is what you want then you have the right guy at the helm

I don't think it's a matter of teams getting worse. It's just that they'll be dealing with transition. Guys like Prescott, Price, Carter, and Alexis will gain more confidence. I know they lost ,but they looked like a different team against Siena. They didn't rush things. Their drives to the hoop had purpose. If they play with that composure every game, they'll win their share next year. Siena played pretty well and we gave them all they could handle. The refs didn't help us either. 2 techs and many ticky tack fouls. Another thing. Rusin didn't force things. I thought he and Price were under control breaking the press. Morton will really help in that area. If Kemp and Watson take the next step, this team will win their share. If they don't, it would be time for a change. I think if Kemp and Prescott played in that game, Marist might have won. I think the pieces are in place for a good year. And I did think the team showed a lot of heart in that game. They kept battling even though they had some bad breaks. Nomar, young teams go through these things. Did you hear Huerter? He couldn't believe how young Marist is. Coaches get better with experience too. I agree with what one other poster said. If you change coaches after three years, it sends a bad message to any potential young coach out there. 4 yrs, especially with this mess, is the norm... Siena was picked 2nd. They finished 7th. If you were a Siena fan, would you want Mitch gone? Who the hell are the guaranteed successes? I'll keep rooting for them and the coach because I think they deserve some success. You can bash CM all you want. He's made mistakes. He's endured a lot too. I think that gets lost in the mix sometimes. I see a lot of winning coaches (Pitino, Coach K) screaming at players, even when they're winning. They scream at refs too. It seems like some guys get free passes.

See I say it would send the right message to the basketball community... we expect more from our coaches. Giving them four years is fine...BUT if we don't see considerable improvement by year three we will move on. If I was a young coach I would have no problem saying "if I can't win 10 games by year three ill quit." Not asking for a championship asking for growth. 5 wins coming off of 1 win is not moving fast enough at this rate it tells me we will struggle to get 10 wins in year 4. Players having good games scoring 20pts in a game is good...but every team has those players. This team has not shown they can win consistantly as a group. I got no problem if people are happy we can play with teams 10 min at a time and that the important thing is we compete those people will be very happy with losing by single digits next year. Alex Gonzalez had a great quote ... "I was tired of going into every season saying we are going to compete...heck you put a high school team out there they will compete" Maybe my expectations are too much but I want to win and I want to win now. With this coach I don't see that happening for 2-3 more years and then I don't see him getting us better than a 2 or 3 seed in the MAAC. I just don't see the team improvement that would tell me hey tie can work. And when they win only 10 games next year and maybe lose another 5 by single digits how many you will want to give him that fifth year? Before we know it it will be six years since Brady and we will be starting from scratch again.
There is some talent here np doubt but we need someone who can teach a system that allows these kids to succeed together now.

There is a difference between being negative and being a realist. Some of the pro CM posters are so ridiculously extreme that you would think CM was a candidate for coach of the year or that he has done something thus far for to make you forget about his horrific record. He will get to 100 losses before he gets to 25 wins... Fact. Some posters like petagay are big supporters of the PROGRAM but feel like one player added to this current roster will bring the team to MAAC glory. Then you have people like dewd who doesn't think CM has made a bad move yet.. In his life.. Ever. Then you have people like jgood (who I find absolutely hilarious) who hate the way CM sneezes and laces his shoes. Then you have people like yankee ctfan foxman who were supporters and gave CM as much a chance they could before realizing that he is just a bad coach. You are what your record says you are. Its unfortunate that the community will have to endure another losing year next year.. And it won't make sense to get rid of him mid season. Then his first real class will be all seniors so you might as well give him another year after that with morton being a sophomore and kemp and alexis juniors. And don't forget he'll somehow convince everyone that they're turning the corner if he has anything better than an 0-30 season. (He has done it before)
