Ken,
Hopefully something gets resolved. Coaches can't be setting a bad example. I mean if that stuff is really happening, that might be the reason for an immediate change.

I think Hall is a good player. At times this year he carried the team. I also think Price is a good player like i've said before. I just do not understand why he could not play them both? 20 minutes each they each bring something different to the game. And if one happens to be hot then let the hot hand get the majority of the minutes but start from a clean slate the next game. It will be interesting to see what he does with Morton and Price next year. Does anyone know if Hall will be back next year?

i loved that they came back from a 12 point half time deficit - something they have not done in 3 years, but no matter what I will not get excitied about losing a close one at home. The kids are not the issue it the coaching and game planning. Anyone tell me the theory or logic to LET them inbound it prior to fouling? What is worst that happens by pressuring the inbound?
Again you watch some of the set plays and the shots are 6 ft beyond the 3point line. No you can be happy that they competed and came back or you can be pissed off that with the right coaching and game plan we win at home - i take the later

Well fans I think this whole coaching situation is worse than we all think. I happen to overhear a few players after the game while the signings were taking place talking about how the coaches are treating the players and how they are arguing between each other. Man I was surprised. They were saying that the coaches really don’t care about them anymore basically have given up on the players – seems like they know the handwriting is on the wall. They were also saying that the players were not getting enough money for meals. The coaches were keeping the money for themselves. Boy this is not good. Someone needs to look into this. The players have lost trust in the coaches and that’s a problem. From a concerned Marist fan….

Even I think we need to take a step back as the accusations are getting more extreme now. At this point, I have my mind made up as a fan, he is not the right coach for this program and that he needs to go. But we are now demonizing him. I admit I have also done this with his handling of Bauer. Maybe its at the point we just watch the games, hope for the best and trust if these issues are happening that Marist wouldn't let it go on. Think this could get out of hand with rumors and innuendo at this point. Again, I admit I have been a BIG proponent of Chuck must go, but its now getting a bit uncomfortable in regards to the more serious stuff being said. That is not a slap at any poster, and not saying it is false or made up. Just not sure we want to go down this road on this board. I trust if extreme things are happening Marist will nip it in the bud and I will attempt on my part to just focus on things I see on the court.

Well said Yankee. Even though we disagree on most issues, we agree on trying to keep this board more like Sports Illustrated than Star Magazine.

I hear ya dewd. Some of these posts are ridiculous. You'd think the guy killed somebody. It's way too personal. If all ot this is true, I'm sure the right decision will be made. I would think that if all of this were true, changes would be made right now. He came into this coaching position as a nice guy with a bright future. Now we have all of this. Even if it doesn't work out, it's not the end of the world. Some of these posters seem like the Obama haters...

Wow ... now this is getting out of hand .. its really starting to sound like ppl are making up crap to make Coach Martin look like a bad guy. This is absolutely ridiculous!
The man is clearly busting his behind and is a bit frustrated because player are NOT EXECUTING ... (the ball is in the players hands, they have the CHOICE during a play to make an POSITIVE PLAY) .. THEY ARE YOUNG BUT NEED TO STEP/MAN UP AND PLAY BALL AND STOP BEING SO DANG EMOTIONAL.
I KNOW AND SPEAK TO SOME OF THESE PLAYERS AND IM DEF *NOT* HEARING ANY OF THIS CRAP.
(SHAKE MY DAMN HEAD @ THE IGNORANT PPL ON THIS BOARD)

Petagay, I agree it is starting to go too far, and I think we all can find a way to speak our differences without getting crazy. I will curtail my hyperbolizing for example on his treatment of Bauers senior year for example.

I think it's time for a change but these are very heavy accusations and I find them hard to believe honestly. The coaches keeping the players meal money??? I really can't believe that is actually happening. I wouldn't be surprised if the players are frustrated with some things but they certainly did not give up today.

And I understand their will be times petagay you will want to throttle me and vice versa, but in the end, if I have to eat my words and apologize to Chuck Martin, I will happily do so. Its been a frustrating couple of decades to be a Marist mens basketball fan to say the least. I'm gonna make a pledge right now to let the season play out, analyze the games and maybe even critique the decisions. But, I will refrain from some of the snitty comments I have made about him and how players and fans should react to him. I actually felt bad for the guy when Prescott went down. That was a scary moment as his legs buckled underneath him and he looked like he might have had a real serious condition. Martin came over and had his arm on his back supporting him the whole time, and Rusin held him up so he wouldn't collapse and hit the floor. They are all in this together, coaches and players. I think the piling on of Martin can cease a bit now as he is the guy we will have, no matter our opinion of him the rest of the season. I want to be able to root for them the rest of the season without the negativity I have been approaching it with, and then get into it more after this season has come to an end.

For those of us either old enough to remember or otherwise familiar with the Hank Gathers story, that scene with Sam Prescott was very scary. The way he collapsed, the blank stare was just chilling. Especially, at the time, since the physical reaction was delayed and seemed unrelated to to the action in the scrum for the ball.
Coach Patsos from today's PoJo Game story. "...Patsos, who watched Prescott try to stand on wobbly legs right in front of him, said the situation almost reminded him of Hank Gathers, the Loyola Marymount player who collapsed during a game in 1990 and later passed away."
I agree with all here who want to tone down the rhetoric. Heck, if the clowns who make up the US House of Representatives are going to give it a try, it should be a slam dunk here. :-)

That's what I was thinking Oldfox. I was actually glad when I knew it was from the scramble. I thought it was his heart. I love that kid. He's toughed it out. He's going to be fun to watch these last couple of years.
In terms of the rhetoric, we'll rooting for these guys. Coaching usually takes care of itself. I don't know about the new posters though. Their anger came out of nowhere.

Sorry to ruffle all the feathers yesterday with my post. I read this board regularly and enjoy all your comments, and don’t post that often, but yesterday kind of sent me over the edge. I saw a player almost come to tears; my concerns are for the players who are right in the middle of all this. The questionable abilities of their coaching staff, coaching staff not getting along with each other, players leaving and getting academic suspensions and dismissals, a win - loss record that is nothing to feel good about. Then add a feeling that they don’t get enough respect from the coaching staff to even keep them feed. It adds up to young adults questioning their decision to come to Marist and that the promises given them not being met. It is not good for the program and will filter down to those players thinking of coming to Marist. As for the coaching staff keeping the food money, that came across wrong. I think the player meant that – the money was in the coaching staff budget but was not being distributed to the players. Also these comments were not from players sitting on the bench.
