Dunne has proven he can find talent in the portal. Just have too look at it like free agency. Let's upgrade

If it's within the rules it'd be hard to turn down I'm guessing a minimum $20k.
I think NIL is going to get brought under control sooner than later though. Somehow the NCAA went from being viewed as least player friendly to the most.
No pro league would agree to:
No salary cap or luxury tax No multi year contracts
It's wild because payments aren't even connected to the school. Imagine James Dolan trying to land a big free agent by giving him league minimum from Knicks, with a huge MSG "endorsement" deal...would never fly.
Not sure if the answer becomes two year scholarship "contracts" or something else.
It's rough too because it's not normal for multiple MAAC schools to have 0 incoming freshmen at this point. Not a healthy situation for HS kids to be unable to plan their futures by waiting to sign D1, or be pushed into a quick D2 commitment and then plan on transferring up later on.

These selfish kids won't learn until the bottom 275 teams say "screw it, no more scholarships". Let all the kids fight for schollies from 70-90 teams. Let's do it.

The NCAA is run by and caters to the BCS schools - Virginia over Indiana St. - you have to be a complete moron to think that Virginia was more deserving.

The early returns on NIL investment in the MAAC is pretty putrid. I read on the MAAC board that most on the Iona roster received NIL money. They are pretty much in the portal. Everyone who received NIL as per the Siena board are all either gone or in the portal. If this is how NIL rolls in the MAAC why would boosters continue to put up the money. Most of the people with the where-with-all to pony up funds for their chosen college team didn’t get there by making one bad investment after another.

How can you say the players are still students? With all the transfers their transcripts must be a mess.
Apparently, they don’t care.

If his goal is to go pro, being a top mid major and making runs in the tourney are better than sitting on the bench and not playing at a BCS school.

I hear all of these complaints and generally agree, but remember, we celebrated the arrival of a transfer from Adelphi yesterday and are mourning the departure of a kid we got from San Jose State.
As much as we're being poached from, we're doing some poaching ourselves and have certainly reaped the benefits of this system with talented players like Allen and Gardner in the past and, hopefully, Price sticking around for next season.

He was at right level. When he faced bigger, stronger centers we had to put Price out there. In particular, it seemed like Niagara huge center dominated Allen at McCann. He found the right level, but now he wants to be a vagabond.

He’s projected as a second round pick. He needs more playing time. He’s gotten a lot of interest from top teams. Guys like Allen aren’t in the same zip code as him.

No but most of these kids have parents/agents/aau coaches telling them 24/7 that the grass is greener elsewhere.

nomar33 your are right on target. These young men have so many people chirping in their ears, telling them they can do better.
I wonder what percentage of college basketball players go to college to get a degree from a good college vs. the number who hope, or have those chirping in their ears, hope they go on to play ball professionally somewhere in the world?

When does sanity return?
