There's really very little point in caring about this sport anymore.
I don't think the NCAA or anyone else is obligated to create rules to protect programs like Marist, but I also don't know how they expect such programs to do anything but die, slowly or quickly.

That's rough... especially since when he was recruited multiple no-sit transfers weren't a thing.
I know he was second team All-MAAC, but still felt like a lot of ceiling left. No doubt he can play at a higher level, probably a top 75 team, but 1 more year year to polish the rebounding/rim protection and then go maybe top 40 without having to do multiple transfers along the way.

Damn, that really hurts. Seemed like he liked the coaching staff and team.
Maybe has something to do with distance in addition to wanting to go bigger.

The NCAA tried lol. They should've come up with stipends sooner, but to me unlimited transfers forced by the courts hurts MAAC schools more than NIL. You'll get players who transfer down/laterally then have a good year and go up. And freshman who might normally go the Jalen Pickett route and do 2 or 3 years before P5, now can easily go up gradually year by year (or jump fast and if it doesn't work out go back down the next year)

AND this is why I didn't get too excited last year - because it is now year to year - there is no well we are set up for a great run "next year" there is NO next year. So if we have standards last years team didn't get to 20 wins (which they should have), they didn't get to the post season - so over all a failure of a year.

Todays athletes need to remove the word "committed" when choosing school

It really does make that semi loss hurt even more. Just a year by year thing now - really unfortunate

I feel for Dunne - when he got Allen he probably thought "ok that is one position that I don't need to worry about for a few years as he can't transfer again" - NCAA no no no FU coaches - kids can do whatever they want.

As a fan, it takes away the fun of it. In my opinion, I think viewership is going to go way down. College basketball is now minor league basketball.

That's a big blow. I was hoping he had found his home here after finally putting up good numbers. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. Didn't Max go to several different high schools and now on to his third college?
I just don't see what players like this think they are going to get in the portal after one good year at a MAAC level. Be a first team, MAAC POTY finalist next year and I'll see your appeal.

You are on a team who has really shot at NCAA Tournament next year why leave and screw your teammates.
Wasn’t your goal as a team to win MAAC and get back to tourney? You fell short this year - don’t you feel like maybe there is some unfinished business.
No today’s athletes don’t feel that way - mostly because they have been taught that.
Always do what is best for you, if some school is willing to offer you a few thousand then that is where you go.
These kids aren’t going to NBA - sure over seas for a few years is there but you can get that at Marist.
You had opportunity to do something special but instead you quit - to be fair he most likely quit because his “agent” told him to

Horrible loss, and it seems kids have no loyalty anymore, but here is an odd stay that shows Allen might not be as big as loss as we all feel. But still huge loss.

It’s all about the Benjamin’s.
College basketball is dead.
Time to create a professional minor league with multi-year contracts.
Then us fans will know how long the commitment is.
