Wasnt Quinny's lax suspended in the fall? What was the story with that? they had to cancel their fall ball, the seniors got suspended for a couple games at the beginning of this season, and the head coach got fired. I believe it was a situation where the upperclassmen had the freshmen drink and drink and drink to the point where they had to go to the hospital, which made it hazing under modern protocols. I get it, a lot of folks reactions were "what's the big deal, we did this stuff all the time in my day" - well it was stupid and pointlessly dangerous to your health and well-being then too. So I don't see the issue in curbing that behavior.

Men's Lacrosse beats Quinny in the MAAC finals in a thrilling 15-14 game. Great job Foxes!!!! Shooter??? CC update?? Absolutely a great job. Picked for 5th, then finish 1st in the regular season and take the tournament crown. Young team, including a sophomore between the posts, with obviously some outstanding leadership on the part of the seniors. Hope the AD goes out of his way to keep Wilkinson when the time comes. Outstanding job by the staff coaching the team up.

we had a 0.5 point overall lead over Monmouth going into this morning, this game provided a 2 point bonus...Monmouth will log in its basically automatic track and field championships by end of tomorrow and re-take the lead. Catching them I think will be possible but might require both baseball and softball trophies.
Congrats to Coach Wilkinson and men's lacrosse. What a bounce back season it has been.

With a possible update from Shooter, it looks like we're back to 2nd place in the MAAC CC race behind Monmouth. 2nd place = 1st loser. (Relax Yankee, said tongue and check).
While an improvement over last year, but I think it warrants an overall review of our teams. We know MBB is a major drag but it looks like XC, Indoor and Outdoor T&F could use some upgrades.
Thoughts?

I will check on this later today. I know Monmouth has gotten well out in front and that they locked up the women's cup before softball tournament even started due to track and field.

Monmouth 90, Marist 79.5, Fairfield 67.75 will be the final top three on the women's side.
The men's race is considerably closer. Iona 69.5, Monmouth 63.5, Quinnipiac 61.25, Marist 61 could conceivably win. Iona will not improve its score; we need Monmouth to lose a baseball game or two or three this weekend to miss the tournament. Marist's current baseball score is 7 (5th place); probably need to end with a score of 16 or higher to win the men's cup. Take the series from Siena this weekend to finish the regular season and have a lengthy stay in Staten Island and it could happen.
Overall, winning the cup outright is impossible and it would take something bonkers to tie. As you can see from the above it is 153.5 to 140. Iona is a distant third. Marist's max out score is 152 (if there are so many car crashes around the league that Marist ends up solo 1st, then wins the tournament) so Monmouth baseball would have to drop from T-6th to 8th to lose 1.5 points and finish with a 152-152 draw. Monmouth can't finish lower than 8th in baseball.
Looking ahead to next year, field hockey will no longer be a MAAC sport, because of re-alignment and yada yada yada. If that were true of 2018-19, it would cost Monmouth 5 points - not enough to swing the women's race, but possibly enough to swing the overall title. An improved Marist MBB score would be huge, because you have to count basketball. If you reversed Marist and Monmouth in MBB this year (11 to 4); Marist would be in first place overall.

Don’t know if Quinny is in the same boat....but they have 14 women’s sports and 7 for men. In addition to Field Hockey and Golf, the offer Acrobatics and Tumbling, Rugby and Indoor and Outdoor Track as Women’s only sports. The also have Ice Hockey for both women and men. The law isn’t going away. Football isn’t going away and I can’t see Marist ending any men’s sports, so if they can’t prove the US DoE is barking up a wrong tree I suspect we might be seeing Marist add some women only sports. Worse things have happened.

it's possible that Marist was counting on football being exempt because of its non-scholarship status and thus the disparity b/t men's and women's scholarship opportunities being much smaller, but if the feds aren't going to see it that way, then you have a problem.
Women's golf strikes me as the most likely add, plus maybe waving their hands around and declaring the club rugby team to be varsity now. Doesn't have to be an NCAA sport to be considered varsity.
