Hi folks. I made foxfanatic's threat a sticky. Gives us a place to talk about other MAAC Games as they relate to common opponents and the such.
This result was an eye opener to me. Over the last several years Iona thrashes a team like Columbia. The MAAC is going to be a scrum this season.

Rider and Niagara both lose meaning we're back to tied for top of the conference. Rider lost to a solid Drake team by 18 on the road while Niagara lost to a rather mediocre looking Cleveland State team by 22, never holding a lead. Not that our win was incredibly convincing but nice to see us pick up a game on both today.

Monmouth gave up 103 to Iona the other night, then today held Saint Peter's to 44, this after the Cocks beat Siena on Thursday evening. Weird.
Fairfield looks like our Maker years. Two MAAC games, two sizable leads coughed up with an avalanche of 2nd half turnovers and mental errors.
Iona 2-0 in the MAAC after being written off for dead by some. I was really looking forward to somebody else winning the tournament too.

Canisius (2-0) overcomes a 10 point halftime deficit to beat Siena 70-66 (0-2). Should be a barn burner Thursday at McCann. Fisher with 21 points and 17 rebounds and Sloan Seamor (another player who told Maker “Errr...No thanks Bub” with 5 threes for Siena.

Manhattan, who I didn't think could score 54 points in regulation, scored 54 in the 2nd half to beat Niagara by 10. Samir Stewart was 6-6 from the floor and 5-5 from the line for 22 points, maybe they give him Rookie of the Week instead of Pickett for a change.
Rider beat Q by 5 at the Zoo. They're now 2-0 in the league without Dimencio Vaughn, scary.

Manhattan beats Niagara ? Just goes to show the MAAC is wide open this year,,slight edge to the favorites Iona and Rider but i wouldn't be surprised at all if any MAAC team takes the crown this year ..that includes Marist .!

iona losing to monmouth ,their lack of height seems to be their achilles heel , they've never had big players on their teams ,they've always had the 6'7 .6'8 guy that could shoot and rebound ,I don't see that this year

Apparently, Isaiah Reese was benched tonight for most of Canisius' game against Niagara. It was a game they got down early, benched him, made a couple of runs with him on the bench, but they ultimately lost with Reese getting zero minutes in the second half. This game was also played in blizzard conditions in the area with significantly less fans than there normally are when these neighbors meet.

Reese a DNP tonight but Canisius bowed up at home and beat Quinny anyway by 5. We're up there Monday night, that situation bears monitoring.

Yesterday Canisius announced that Reese was indefinitely suspended. I would think indefinitely means more than one game, but you never know with our luck.

Yesterday Canisius announced that Reese was indefinitely suspended. I would think indefinitely means more than one game, but you never know with our luck. He will probably be benched first minute, then play 39 minutes and hit 11 3 pointers with Marist historical luck.
