Le Moyne moving up from Division II to the NEC effective this summer. im looking forward to that ,,but they have to wait 4 years to enter the championships which has to hurt recruiting ..

Not sure if this is the best place for this post, but did people see Siena changed their logo? Not sure how I feel about it Attachments:

The Siena diehards are not fans of the redesign.

It's not terrible but they haven't put it on any uniforms yet since they just released it right before fall sports started. So who knows how it will look up close.

Never been much of a fan for the bland modern logo re-designs. Looks a lot like some of the modern NBA logos. Miss the looks they had in the early 2000s

Merrimack and Sacred Heart are both joining the MAAC.
It definitely makes you wonder who could be on the way out (I'm sure Fairfield can't be happy with this), 13 schools is in my opinion too many for the league.

It's about preparing for the inevitable when Fairfield, Q, Siena, Iona all decide to blow this pop stand.
13 is a lot for hoops but it never hurts to add schools so you don't lose your AQ in sports like golf, tennis, etc where not everyone sponsors the sport. Gotta have 6.

Quality of the schools, academically, has been falling for a while losing Loyola and then Monmouth. And yeah I think both Connecticut schools will look to leave which would drop the quality of schools even further.
I'm surprised Merrimack is joining though since they have football, but probably see the writing on the wall in the NEC.

College landscape is changing quickly so good to backfill from that standpoint too.

Yuck. Just merge with the NEC and be done with it.
I expect FU at least to announce their departure next……

The MAAC is a glorified NEC at this point - but the NEC is the ONLY place we can go to raid.
The Universities who really pour money into athletics will leave - Monmouth was first - I promise Quinny and Fairfield are next.
The CAA also sucks - it isn't close to what it once was - if the MAAC could have positioned itself to steal Northeastern, Drexel, and Hofstra - then the MAAC is better than CAA - Campbell? Hampton? NC A&T? Towson?
Monmouth is already being asked by the CAA to increase their athletic budget - which they do not want to do

I’m with Leo on this. I think this move is as much a hedge against a couple of MAAC institutions going down the tubes in the next 5-7 years as it is about an institution or two moving “up” for athletics.

Delaware moving to FBS, all sports leaving CAA for Conference USA in summer 2025 (one more year in CAA).
Things are going to get interesting in our neck of the woods of lower D1.
