Does Marist get anyone anywhere?
I think Kemp is one of the best 5 freshman in the league but won't get honored because he missed too much time.
I guess Prescott is the only chance. 11.9 ppg is 14th in the league...he does not stand out in any other category so that won't get it done...his chance comes from MAAC scoring. Sam ended up 4th in scoring in MAAC games only at 14.8 ppg. Only Rossiter, Glover and Beamon had a higher average in league play. Again Prescott is solid from three, the FT line, a decent rebounder for a guard but not outstanding yet in any of those categories. Not sure if it's enough to push him onto the 3rd team considering Marist's 9th place finish.
Beamon and Brown from MAN and Nelson and Jordan from NIA are sure to be honored so Marist could be the only team without a player recognized.

At the very least Sam will likely get preseason ALL-MAAC honors next year...Prescott will be the 7th or 8th leading returning scorer (based on all games) next year. 3rd leading returning scorer in MAAC games.

Does Marist get anyone anywhere? Not this year. I do agree that Speed Racer showed enough to earn a spot on one of the preseason teams next October.

How about Chuck as worst coach of the year? Make it retoractive to include the last two years as well.
No All-MAAC rep for Marist this year. To much competition for Sam (if there was such a thing I think he merits a "4th team" nod) and Kemp did not log enough minutes.
Sam is clearly the only player on the team that could actually log meaningful minutes on the top tier MAAC teams (based on his performance and improvement over the past two years). I see no reason why he should not be All-MAAC next year. Need more than 1. Top tier teams will have at least 2 as all MAAC. Some will have 3.

Does Bowie have any chance at a rookie honor? Didn't he start every game? Got POTW at least once.

Maybe Hewitt could sit on the side line for the next year and wait for the call from Poughkeepsie in 2012. LOL

A question for the pro-Martin contingent. If he is such a good judge of talent, an excellent recruiter, and a budding coach, why has he only had 2 All-MACC players during his tenure: (1) Schneider (a Brady recruit), and (2) Rusin as a rookie last year?
With all the freshman on the roster over the past 2 years, only 1 All-MAAC rookie selection???

Point taken on Hall and all-rookie team 3 years ago.
But, what about the fact we've had only 1 all-rookie the last 2 years since last year's frosh and this years frosh account for the majority of the minutes played over the last two years? How can this be since Martin is such a great judge and molder of talent? How?

How can this be since Martin is such a great judge and molder of talent? How? I am still a little skeptical of some of the talent as well. I think alot of these players can develop into good MAAC players, many are not there yet...we'll have to see what happens. Martin may eventually prove to be a good judge of talent. He has not impressed so far as being a good developer of talent. Prescott and Kemp improved as the season went on...Carter came into his own but all the rest of the young players were extremely inconsistent. Maybe he'll get better in this regard too. As far as All Rookie...it's tough to get more than one guy on that team from the same school. Kemp was the guy this year...just suffered the injury. Not only did it knock him out for half the season but playing with the broken hand for four games dragged his numbers down too. If he's healthy now he goes for 6.5ppg and 7.5rpg and makes that team.

Ok well Bowie is def a top 7 rookie in the maac .. and Alexis is def a future maac star (recovering from injury and limited mins) has enable him to shine until recently. And Watson is a guy i would have on my team (he also had to recover from shoulder surgery) when in shape.

It would have helped the rookies if they had a veteran presence down low who could score. They had nobody. You can't just go by that. You don't think Prescott would have been on the all-rookie team if he played a full year? Nobody ever said he has proven to be great. Who said he was great? I think most have said a 4th year would be warranted. We also said that we would understand it if they made a change. Since everyone agrees that Marist would never eat the contract, what is the point of continuing to debate whether he should be fired or not? If they've got a replacement available, go for it.
