dewd, interesting that Alexis had a great game, HUH? Shame we only found out because Prescott was hurt. Why must you always twist something positive for the team into a negative against the coach. It ruins your credibility. I have agreed with you from day 1 that Alexis has a lot of talent. I haven't been the one to say he was either not physically or mentally prepared to play earlier in the year, but others have said different things to that effect that I think both you and I agreed we could see being possible. You know, like how he was not fully healed from his injury last year, he lacks focus, he doesn't know where to stand on defense or know to put his arms up, etc. This says he is a work in progress and now, hopefully, he is ready to turn his talent into something positive for the team. He is young and needed time for development. You do not want to admit it, but is it possible the coach has helped him along in his development and is now ready to reap the rewards? You see this as a negative against the coach. I see it as a positive (it makes me happy nomar) that there is another weapon in this weekend's arsenal and more importantly, in next year's arsenal. The more weapons we surround Morton with, the better off we will all be and the team will be better suited to avoid long scoring droughts in games that have plagued them in the recent past. Now now, do I ever get snippy with you? I think NOT. Now, I would agree I would lose credibility if I second guessed Martin. I am not second guessing him however as I have been imploring Martin to play Alexis for quite a bit of time. In fact, if you check my game comments before the game, I predicted some big numbers if Martin played him because of either Prescott or Bowie being hurt. And guess what, he once again benefitted by something that was forced on him. No reason to be snippy. You have your viewpoint, I have mine. The coach has 5 wins this year and a total of 6 over 2 years. I think my viewpoint is kinda ahead at this point . And, can we stop bringing up negative aspects of players to defend the adult who has led these players to these lack of wins. Can we do that please? Thanks. Yes, players have their faults. Menelik has been the worst offender, because his situation was correctable on his part. But the overall blame on what has happened is the coach. Alexis is a talent we can't lose if coach stays. Play him coach, you will be happy with the results. Hey, what happened to Prinsloo now that Kemp is out. I know he was forced to play the rebounding demon Bauer because of that situation.

yankee I did not mean to come across snippy, I just wanted to rattle your cage a little. Nor did I say anything negative about the athlete, just replaying some of what I heard from some guys on your side of the fence. We all see the Alexis talent, but it has to be cultivated and I think that is what we are finally seeing. As far as Prinsloo goes, as I said many times before, I thought the coach was playing him before to find out what he has. He probably has seen that at best he is a work in progress that could use a good off-season. And, finally, I'm glad for you that you feel your viewpoint is kinda ahead at this point. It warms my heart that I am able to provide that for you.

No dwed I am afraid of is next years team mirroring this one with maybe 3 additional wins and then we finally decide to make the change having wasted yet another year all for the sake of giving him 4 years. Forget the record? Its all in the past? Wow ...those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it. I do not see the light at end of the tunnel is see another wasted year. Period.

I don't think it really warms your heart Dewd:). Let me ask you a serious question, a hypothetical. If you heard that Al Skinner would take the job next year, would you do it? Would you let Martin go for a proven guy like that who can settle this disaster down and start to turn it back around. He would have instant credibility and he is at the point where he isn't gonna get big time offers anymore. It may sound far fetched, but if you REALLY think about it, it is not beyond the realm he would come here.

Did the 1-11 record JJ and WW ended their soph year with mean their junior and senior years were going to be terrible? Let's hope history repeats itself here.

Wow again we are going to ignore the other 10 wins that year that showed that they could play at that level....

yankee, I would like to give CM this upcoming year no matter what to see if he can get this thing turned around and I would take my chances that I could keep Al Skinner in my back pocket as a plan B. This is assuming Skinner is as good as you seem to think. Wasn't he a member of the (championship?) Nets way back when I was a kid. If so, I liked him then. He did a good job at BC from what I remember. Not sure where it went south with him there, but I wouldn't start looking at his credentials and start knocking on his door until sometime next year at the earliest.

Wow again we are going to ignore the other 10 wins that year that showed that they could play at that level.... The other 10 wins were with senior center Will McClurkin who was suspended for the last 12 games (see, it has happened with players playing for other Marist coaches!). Without him, they were lost and had to learn the college game under fire. It served them well and I hope we have a similar situation here.

He played 24 of 28 games that year.

I see in the stats that you are right, but from the Marist archives:
Jan. 28, 2005
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist's Will McClurkin (Medford, N.Y.) has been suspended from competition for the Red Foxes' men's basketball team as a result of a violation of institutional and department policy, the school announced late Friday evening before its game with Iona. The suspension is pending an internal review, which has no timeline for its completion.
"Certainly, we're disappointed that Will will not be representing Marist College in this evening's contest," said Marist head coach Matt Brady. "He is a valuable member of this program and we look forward to having him back on the court."
McClurkin has averaged 13.6 points and 7.7 rebounds, while starting every game this season for the Red Foxes.
"Marist has a high standard and level of expectation for our student athletes," said Marist Director of Athletics Tim Murray. "The athletic department and the Office of Student Affairs will work to resolve this issue in a timely fashion within our established policies."
McClurkin scored a career-high 26 points in the 74-72 victory at Fairfield on January 19, including a 3-pointer with 2.5 seconds left to clinch the victory. Marist is 10-7 overall this season and in first place in the MAAC with a 7-1 league mark.
"I'm deeply disappointed in my behavior and understand that I must be held accountable for my decision," said McClurkin. "I accept all responsibility in this matter and look forward to putting this behind me."
I don't believe he returned after he was suspended, so I do not know which one is right, but I do know they were 1-10 after that date (I admit I was wrong when I said earlier they were 1-11).

Dewd, you are the best at the defense of CM in terms of lawyer type twisting of info. Lets not compare 1 suspension to the multiple suspensions over 2 years for the present coach. You also discount OOC wins. Marist played some horrific OOC teams last year and lost all. Those count. If I ever get sued, can I have your card?
