Ok seems like no one will be happy with less then 12 wins next year. So from what you have seen so far - can they turn it around in 9 months so dramatically. they have one PG coming in who is expected to make up 15 points a game and fix a defense that doesnt exist.

Unfortunately, I think Marist men are looking at 8-9 wins total next year.

I'm willing to go on record and say that they will win at least 12 games next season.

Do you think Prescott, Rusin, Watson and some other players are still at Marist next season? Especially Prescott. . . Morton is coming, but how does a mass exodus affect the team? You can only build a winning team if you have a strong coaching staff. Otherwise, all the chatter on these boards is an exercise in futility. Just call it the way it is. . . .

Prescott better be there. Price can be very effective as a combo. He just needs to not force things.

Here's a comparison with St. Peter's in Dunne's first 4 yrs in the MAAC.
Wins in MAAC play
3, 3, 8, 11
I consider next yr CM's third year. If they win 10 next year , they will be on track. Even if you count it as his 4th, 10 or 11 would be the same as Dunne. If they win 8-10 next year, I think you couldn't say things are that far off. There were a lot of blowouts in Dunne's MAAC games as well. He had better upperclassmen that he inherited too.
Do we know that guys are leaving the team???

?? OMG are we comparing ourselves to St. Peter's? Is that what we are striving for? a 15-11 squad in year 5? wow - again it amazes me how some people on this board as so complacent with mediocrity

I don't look at overall record as much. From what I see, they're tied for 2nd in the league right now at 10-5

I voted yes...my head tells me no but my heart cannot concede 2011-2012 9 months before it starts.

Nomar,
What the hell is wrong with challenging for a title 2 yrs from now? St Peter's has an established top notch program now. Is it supposed to happen before then? I'm saying challenge for a title and then stay strong. I'm just making the point that it doesn't usually happen overnight. I'm hoping it happens next yr. Other teams do lose a lot.

See i want more, its not enough for me to just go 10-5 in the MAAC and 1-8 in OOC - honestly I dont want to be a 16th seed and get my ass kicked in round 1. Yes we have never won a single game in the NCAA so that would be a good thing... but I want a meaningful win. I want to beat the Minnesota's, the Richmond's, the Oaklahoma's - I don't want to be just 10-5 in an down MAAC year - i want to be 12-3. I do want all this - unlike most I do put weight on the OOC games.

St Peter's beat Alabama this year. I wouldn't say they are mediocre.
Let's see. I say put more emphasis on men's basketball. That gets shot down. Spend more money like Siena does. That gets shot down. I'm a little confused. We're not going to put more resources into basketball because all sports are important but we're supposed to somehow be a dominant force? I think being like St Peter's is in two years wouldn't be bad at all. Then keep the program strong. Improve the facilities. Pay the coach. Then we'll stay good. The recruits will come.
Oldfox, Did you hear Graney tonight? He once again said that Siena should dominate the MAAC. They should never be worse than third. Of course, that's only in men's basketball because that's all they care about . They've got the arena and the media. He can't figure out why any good player would go anywhere in the MAAC other than Siena. Like I've said, that's what were up against folks. It's the haves vs the have nots.

Nomar,
I want that too. I think we can get there if that's really what Marist wants. It is a huge mistake to think that because the women win that men's should be just as easy. I just think they have to go full throttle. That doesn't seem to be the way Marist will go. If they lost Brady because of $50-$100,000, then what can we really expect? The way they go about it, all of the stars would have to align to become dominant.

I have a question ... How many winning seasons has the Marist football team had under coach Parady in the last decade???
They got a brand new stadium ....

I have a question ... How many winning seasons has the Marist football team had under coach Parady in the last decade??? They got a brand new stadium .... Little bit of a different situation...plus as non politically correct as it may seem the fact is there are two college level sports that matter on the national level...D-IA Football and D-I basketball. Marist is not D-IA in football so even if they went 9-2 it would not get much publicity. The one sport Marist has that matters on the big stage is men's bball, yet it's the worst sport at the school. Love the success of the ladies, of baseball, tennis, swimming etc. but for Marist's name to be known they need to do it with the Men's bball team...and at a school our size they need to do it fairly regularly to stay relevant.
