Marist FT shooting much better this year. That has been a problem that was even around during that guys coaching tenure. There are some nice trends happening, lets hope they can be more consistent and keep this going. Hall has turned the corner. He is now playing the best ball of his Marist career, back to the first 10-12 games of his freshman year. Didn't see todays game, but Kemp also seems to have an infectious positive attitude. He doesn't have that hangdog whiny look like others have in the past that annoys the heck out of me. Coaches did a nice job having them ready after the break. That can be very difficult with the lack of practice time they probably had. Would be nice for Martin if the players could stay healthy so he can have his full complement of players. How did Alexis do, I think he has been underutilized to this point.

I think we can all see that this team can be pretty good if they don't turn it over and hit free throws. They just need consistency out of everyone. If they get Candon, Jay, and SP having good nights regularly, they'll win 10 games. Kemp and an improving Menelik should be an excellent combo. Alexis will get better. I think this was a really nice win. Kudos to Devin and Korey. They can be big factors if they play up their potential.

Good win. All contributed, well maybe except for Rusin. He was out of it last night. he could not hit anything, even missed two shots within two feet of the hoop. His man scored at will. CM took him out after a particularly bad shot in the first half and put in Price. All of a sudden the ball started to move around the perimeter. It opened up the lane; the result was Prescott and Alexis had nice drives toward the hoop. Price played well last night but even he had the turnovers like his fellow PG Hall who almost had a double double (turnovers and points). Hall was the difference though. The entire team was on fire at the free throw line. This is even better than when the shot doctor was here. Kemp is going to be good, real good. There are many good things to take away from this game but to me number one is the way they played during the last ten minutes. They held up under the pressure. Penn tried to get close but Marist answered every time Penn got close. The slow growth continues!!!

That is correct. Two handed dunk and a foul, made the free throw. This young man is going to be good.

Nice! Its great to have him and Watson for 4 more years .. Kemp def ready right now to produce .. esp after his post grad experience/development last season .. (plus hes no kid, per say, he just turned 20 years old "as a freshmen" about a week ago!) ..
Def nice having two grown men playing post/the middle for Marist ... cant wait to see them both as Juniors (just saying) haha

Ken,
I totally agree with you about Kemp. He's got quick feet and is very agressive. I think Menelik is adjusting to the difference in the speed of the game. He's probably right where he should be. If Pieter can develop in the off season, they have a very good trio for the next three years. If he can bring in one big (JUCO?) to replace Rob , that will be huge. I think Morton will be huge. I think the key to success this year is Candon. Think about it. If he has a few WW type games from three, they'll bust out to leads. It just seems like he doesn't hit threes when they need him to. If that happens, they'll win 10 this yr and all of the doom and gloom will stop. People will be anticipating big things next year. I'm talking about situations where they're up three and he misses three in a row from three after the team gets stops. You gotta make at least one. Those are game changers. Morton is going to be huge because he can score 10 pts in 2 minutes. If they had that this year, they'd be tough. Him and Thomas are both good defenders as well.

I swear everyone thinks Morton is going to be a god his freshman year:). I hope we give him some time to develop next year. We are building almost impossible expectations. We all know he is going to be the best dribbler, driver to the basket next year. BUT, most freshman don't have a Needham type impact first year. I just love the overall package he brings. You can see he has the talent, charisma, and confidence to be a good one. Gotta give him room to grow into that player IMO. Some good, positive signs, just have to forget the Holy Cross debacle.

Point Guard...
Sounds like what Ken was saying is that Marist performed best in the Penn game when, Price, a guard with a pass-first, score second mentality, was in the game along with RJ. Let's hope Martin can sell Morton, can convince Morton to be more like Jared Jordan, than than the 1st option scorer he seems to be in high school.

I think he can do both... I just see them getting a lot of transition baskets.. He can penetrate and dish. I just like the fact that he has a nice stroke for kickout threes.
In terms of being a God, I don't know. I would say that his film clips show ability that has never been seen on the Marist campus. Hopefully, that translates to winning basketball.

A real floor general, distributor is what this team needs. But, Peta. if Isaiah is gonna be ROY, that's bad news for RJ. Martin has stuck with Hall through thick and thin, I don't expect Martin to sit Hall for Morton, nor do I see Martin sliding him into the 2 spot at the expense of Prescott. That would be a tiny, tiny back court. That is why I think the odd man out is Price.
