Marist is awash in money and got some huge gift a year ago. Yes it had nothing to do with the athletic department. But................they could do it. Others have done it. This situation is beyond ridiculous and if not fixed soon, could drag Marist down for a decade. Put in one of the assistants as a interim, have Martin fulfill his contract somewhere else in the athletic department if you don't want to completely waste the money.

Hi folks ... when I signed off last year I said I'd check-in again this year ... CM's program shows no sign of improvement, but, getting selected as the MAAC rep in the pre-season NIT could not have come at a worse time + CM's statement that the NIT field is a level or 2 or 3 above Marist is simply his admission that his program is simply not functioning at the D-1 level (note that he did not say the NIT field was a level of 2 or 3 above the MAAC as a conference, but above Marist as a team). Over the last 50 games he is 5-45. Quite a resume. Having said that, I suspect he's here until his contract runs out and we have to look to the balance of the year for some sign of improved team play.
Based on what I've seen of them so far, the cupboard is a bit bare. Assuming Price can play (no injury), they obviously need him at the point. Without him lodging major minutes, this season is lost. I would go with Prescott at the 2, the frosh Bowie and Alexis on the wings, with Bauer/Watson/Kemp/Prinsloo rotating at center. I'm interested in seeing Kemp/Watson/Prinsloo on Saturday since I haven't seen them play yet ... we need them to contribute and develop or we'll be in deep yogurt next year too since they will be the bigs for years to come.
No matter how you slice it ... this is not going to be pretty ....

Sound like no one wants to give this guy a chance to build a team 3 year as head coach with a strong recruiting class this year in Bowie and Kemp and having Alexis and Watson He is happy with 20 point losses to start the year. He says the team now lacks energy going into games. He lost to an 0-8 Patriot League team by 18 at HOME. Give me a break. He is not doing the job. Conference stinks this year, he will get some home MAAC wins, but he is not the guy long term. Alexis has star potential, I will agree there. He might be a good recruiter. Can't say anything else positive since he came. Crowds are down. He is flat out leading this program into the toilet.

I blamed Brady for a lot. That time is done. Johnson, his guy. Drummond-his guy. Price fallback-his guy. Hall-his guy. Vouyoukas-his guy. dribble drive-his system (good coaches tailor system to players on roster). Rusin, prescott no signs of improvement-his guys. Carter-his guy. 1-29-his record last year (anyone could have done that). Crowds diminishing-on his watch. They have great shot to start 3-0 in conference. All signs point to that meaning little. Its a darn shame this coach is making Marist mens basketball into NJIT north. sugarcoat it all you want, this team has EMBARRASSESED the college way too many times in tSe last 2 years. I will be the first to apologize and say I was wrong if he turns this around, but I am confident unfortunately that he won't. HE LOST to a winless crappy team by 18 on HIS home floor.

Yankee you have a great holiday too,
Your right some of these guys are his recruits but no one on this page see the whole picture like Petagay77 said Brady put this program in the toilet,
Brady did not do anything that other have not done for years. But this hurt Marist to the point that Marist had to take it to court and not the basketball court. Coach K couldn't bring the Marist program back any faster so Marist would be in the same place yes I seen the HC game and I was upset with the energy and play but hell some of these kids play hard in 29 loses and some night it hurts and you going to brake down like most of you on this board after the two wins it was Marist is on the right road and I can see the change and as soon as the loses start again it burn the coach in the town center and the players suck. Forget about the coach the player man are the ones who day in and day out are playing these games these guy can say the hell with the fans but us as fans dont care or have no hearts these are kids away from home that come to your school in your town to play in a place that was in the toilet. I my self could not do it for 29 loses as a player I would be that Rob Johnson but that another chapter because Rob seen that its not going to play much with the new guys coming in so he did what he needed to do and I wish him luck because he is a good kid that just wants to play.
I would like to see someone lay out a game plan that would have Marist in a better position.

1) First thing would have been adjusting. He doesn't do it. Dribble drive did not fit his roster, but he stubbornly used it all last year.
2) Anell Alexis needs A LOT more time. Martin doesn't seem to see the little talent he has.
3) Shortened rotation quicker. Finally he was doing this, but why so long?
4) Korey Bauer is being completely misused. Why is he out on the perimeter 50 % of the time. Why has he regressed his senior year?
5) Better conditioning program. NO EXCUSE for Watson being out of shape, start of season. Accountabilty?
6) Bench players who are not showing the effort, make a statement. Maybe he was doing this with Price? (If not, he ruined that kids confidence IMO.

Answer to #1 What coach in history adjust to the player you have a game plan and you find players that can execute this game plan, As I said in another post MJ had coach's that made offenses for him and he could not win a chip in come Phil Jackson with his offenses and make MJ run 6 chip again come on man you know that sound crazy even saying it.
Alexis should start I give you that.
Because as my man AI said it practices man practices :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGDBR2L5kzI
So the coach has to see players in real games to know where to fit them in.
number 4 my main man Bauer he played his butt off last year our only big guy on the team but he is a flat out D2 player I dont need to say anything more about him and he is only getting time because Kemp is out so he is a 5 minute guy set some picks give Kemp a rest and hit the boards
Number 5 do you know the NCAA rules a coach is allocated times that players can work out and practice so when the season starts and a player comes back and the coaching staff takes control you have to deal with getting these guys in shape now some players like Rusin work hard on the off season and some guys dont thats the players and you start a season with a kid that out of shape and speed time getting them back and this hurt the 1st half of the season and thats what you seeing in Watson but he is coming along
Bench is still a little off but again the only way to fix this is with real games and see where the players fit
Price if you reading this your a goof kid in my eyes but this years team is different and if you pass the ball to the right people at the right time you will be great.
And I will give you one Yankee that you missed Bowie need to shot even if Coach does not like it I think this kid can score just in the 3 position the guards have to get him the ball and I think Price and Bowie can hurt a lot of teams even in the BD.
What do you think about Johnny Damon coming back to the Yankees?

Igotyouback, I like that even though we have big time disagreements on the coach that you actually debate it and don't get dismissive and defensive. Hopefully you turn out right and I am dead wrong. Been following Marist since the Smits days. Its been a tough stretch:). I would love Damon to come back, just not sure he will get the playing time. I don't like Posada as the DH at all. His offensive is good as a catcher. As a Dh, he is a broken down 255, 19 hr, 82 rbi slow down the basepath clogger. Damon would be better there, but they will play Posada. Is Damon rumored to be coming back?
