I'm losing braincells trying to read/understand/comprehend igotyouRback's post.
Now, Marist needs a new coach. It's plain and simple. Martin is not the guy for the job and he has proven it IN HIS RECORD! Give him a pat on the back for being a good recruiter, but that is what he is good at, recruiting. He's coming from Memphis so i'm sure he knows how to sell athletes a dream and a golden ticket. But being a good recruiter does not make you a good basketball coach. Matt Doherty was an excellent recruiter for North Carolina. That does not equate to wins. Roy Williams takes over and that team wins a National Championship. You can say "well that's North Carolina" but this is Marist! At this level the talent of the players is not overwhelming. The talent on this team is as good or better than 70% of the teams they face this year. When the talent is even, coaching is what takes that talent over the top, and judging by his RECORD he is not capable of doing that. How many games has he won since he's been here.. on coaching? Where he had to compete in a close game and pull it out on coaching? How about this year, how many close games has he pulled out, or even how many games has the team played better in the 2nd half then the first half? Even the two MAAC wins at home we got out to a big lead in the first half and had to hold on to the game in the second half. We need and deserve a better coach for this program. Thanks for the recruits but Chuck must go.. The attendence will continue to go down and we will continue to make excuses and be satisfied with moral victories.
On another note our girls team is really playing at a high level. I think we can go deep into the tournament this year. I look forward to conference play coming up

Dribble4drive so your a manager on the team wow and yes my post are a little crazy I dont care I just get tired of people kicking these coach's when the team is not win new flash people some one has to lose. If this team was win 7 games you want 8.
also see if your braincells can understand this you are part of this team and you turn on your leader that the lowest thing in the world and your not even a player you a MANAGER.

Thanks Yankee and I am sorry my post are a little hard on the braincells for most but one thing is we all want wins right now and I hope to get them soon.
Has anyone spoke to the coaching staff to see what is going on behind the scenes.

I must respond to the comment about off season conditioning. Igot... you are wrong. The coach cannot coach during the offseason. The coach cannot hold organized practices during the off season. Nothing prohibits the coach from having contact with his athletes throughout the year. Nothing prohibits the coach from giving the athlete a training schedule and constantly checking in with the athlete to see how the training is going.
So the coach is absolutely responsible for an athlete coming into the season out of shape. Especially in light of the fact that the athlete has been on campus (the same campus the coach is on) for almost 60 days prior to the first practice. No excuse for an athlete to be out of shape going into the season. Sorry!
AND this is the second time this has happened with CM. Last season Bauer could not play more than 4 minutes at one time in the beginning of the season before asking out.

We were a. 500 team we had no scharships we had one of the greatest guys as a coach but he was not a great soccer coach. To this day all of us soccer players are happy that the teams we have know are much better then we were. Marist made the changes necessary to make us more successful. There was an assistant coach there that we all would have enjoyed learning from. Our coach was loved infact many of us where just back at Marist to say our goodbyes. And in my time we beat #17 FDU and #2 St. Johns and we still needed a better coach

Chuck NEEDS TO STAY - He needs a few more players to get a team that will be competitive both in and out of the MAAC. The existing players (the better ones) need other players that fit in with the team concept inorder to get better. A player can go shoot all day in the gym and improve but if he doesnt get the ball in the game - then it looks like he hasnt improved. Look at the stats - they tell the story. Look at shooting percents, look at assists, look at rebounds. RJ loves to shoot but he should be more concerned with assists, J is still only a fresh, Rusin needs to shoot more but doesnt get the ball when he is open, the bigs need to crash the boards, and the team needs to learn to pass the ball even when running the fast break (transition) offense. I think this team will turn the corner as they start playing in the MAAC. I sure hope so cause it is frustraiting to watch them lose. It really has to be tuff for the players - most of which have come from winning HS programs to experience loss and loss after loss. I wish Chuck to have a great 2011 and for the players to experience the joy of winning.
