I got no problem paying these kids - but there needs to be a balance. I always hated that I wasn't even allowed to get a job because that was against NCAA rules. A scholarship is not enough to live on - but add another $5K-$10K that should be plenty to enjoy life at college I actually agree with Jeter2. He makes a lot of great points, and I think people on this thread are bullying him. That’s not right and that’s not what this thread is all about. I still can’t get pass Nomar33 thinking student athletes can’t work. There are rules and process but they can work. The amount of nonsense Nomar33 posts on this site trying to prove an outdated thought process is crazy. The fact that Nomar posts 100 times a day doesn’t mean he’s correct. And the amount of negativity. Be part of the solution and not the problem. And please, please stop picking on less fortunate people from the south with your doublewide comments. #Newbie

Jeter is correct. College athletes are allowed to have part time jobs.

The fact that Jeter can't read is baffling - I said student athletes "couldn't work" that is past tense, I also mentioned that the rule was changed in 2007 - so when I say we were not allowed to work when I played at Marist it was accurate.
How is that not something you can understand?
I said double wide once and you came back with a joke about the poor kids from Duke lacross who were wrongly accused.... but that didn't bother you.

OMG people you just cant be this obtuse - YES they CAN NOW as of 2007 - actually read my original post and see if you can comprehend it? I was NOT allowed to work in 1988 due to NCAA rules - that is a FACT not an opinion.

Nomar think you’re wrong. I remember my friends on the basketball team all had part-time jobs. And that was the late 70s.

Soccer and partial - there were no full - coach had 11 scholarships to split between a roster of 22-23 kids (i believe that is is still the case today - maybe 16 scholarships)

Nomar Marist didn’t have a women’s soccer team in 1988.

Nomar Profanity never solves anything. Hopefully you could keep it clean and we can have a real conversation about the real issues facing women’s basketball today.

I was just trying to figure out what you identify as. That’s actually a very woke way to keep this discussion at a high-level. I’m not gonna descend down to name-calling like you.
