D'Marcus Hall transferring from Louisiana Monroe. Limited action the last two seasons. 6'5", 210...Dunne had offered previously.

As an alum it hurts to say this but why even care anymore if anyone who is good just leaves now. There’s no way we can build a winning program here

I thought for sure our back court was set and strong for next year ,,now not so sure ,,but i have faith in Dunne finding replacements ..easier to find back court replacements than front court and Dunne has a keen eye for back court talent

Hopefully he tests the waters and comes back like Ndefo did, not holding my breath though.
It's getting to the point where you have to recruit solid MAAC-average players that develop like Herasme, Cooley, a JUCO like Bell.
Then round out the team with grad/upperclassmen transfers like Jose Perez and Ant Nelson. The Masiello model is going to spread through the MAAC.
Not so fun to follow as a fan.

Well that is very sad news to hear. And potentially devastating news if any others transfer.

Estrada….Pickett….mids and low-mids are effectively a farm system for the Power 5/high majors.
After SPU’s first open practice four + years ago, Holloway said 3/4 roster spots would flip every year going forward for non Power 5 schools. He remarked last week at an NCAA presser that it will only get worse for mids….(paraphrased) why would the Power 5 and high-mids recruit a freshman when you can pluck the best of the freshmen already with a college season under their belt?
Thinking it over, would KeeKee or Randy Holmes, or Bellinger or Willie Haynes, or the 1968 crew have stayed at SPU under the current format? Unlikely.
Basically, college 🏀 as we knew it has permanently changed.

Well that is very sad news to hear. And potentially devastating news if any others transfer. I would expect more. I'll be surprised if the best players (like Ituka) are back. It's just not the way of MM ball anymore.

Honestly as fans this will become more and more unwatchable, and being a mid-major coach will be rediculous. How can you build a program when, in the cases you find a great player and develop them they go somewhere else.
We need 2 of 3 to stay in Harris, Wright, and Ituka - one has already left AND we need Dunne to find some bigs in the portal - we have NOTHING coming in right now to change our fortunes

Don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
Good luck, I hope he doesn’t come back and rots on a bench somewhere in a big program

We've always had our player or two that has left the program ..either looking to better themselves or being told they probably wouldn't be getting much playing time and might have better luck being on a different team ..They've changed the transfer rules a bit i think ..making it easier to transfer ..The whole graduate transfer rule has changed things a bit ., the extra year for Covid era players has changed things a bit ..ad that to players/ parents don't have the patience anymore for growing a team ,it's always the here now approach .but in spite of all this , i still love college basketball ...Coaches ,,fans need to adapt to this ..no reason Dunne can't find some gems out there ..All coaches must do this nowadays to be successful .

Student support seems to be on life support at most for the MAAC schools. If that wains further what is the incentive for the schools to further invest in their sports programs? Really, with all the competing priorities that exist at a college or university why would admins decide to do more than the bare minimum about something their biggest internal stakeholder group shows minimal interest in? I doubt MAAC admins have a passionate interest in running a farm club for the next level up college sports programs. Marist sued Matt Brady for doing the same thing. No? Now they are going to go out of their way to do it to themselves? It’s great that the athletes got restrictions on their freedom of movement lifted. Unfortunately, I think there will be fewer of them to move as time marches on.
