Foxes blank Rider 3-0 to advance in the winner's bracket. Next will be regular season champion and tournament host Canisius featuring MAAC Pitcher of the Year Megan Giese.
4 hit shutout for Calista Phippen, thinking she's back like John Wick.

Unfortunately yesterday a 4 run first inning by the Griffs was too much to overcome in a 5-2 loss.
They'll have to win twice today to reach championship Saturday. Siena up first at 1:30 and the Canisius/Iona loser afterwards if they beat the Saints.

Lost 3-1 to Siena and that's that. Marist went 4-0 in the regular season against the 2 teams that eliminated them and 0-2 against the 1 team they beat in this tournament. Figure that one out.
This will go down as one of the weakest years for Marist women's sports on record. Back of the napkin math has them finishing 8th or 9th out of 11 schools in the women's commissioner's cup. Used to be top 3 without breaking a sweat.

Can we add this to the TM must go thread? I had the same thought. Then I come to my senses and remember if he wasn’t meeting performance expectations he would have been gone a long time ago.

Baseball beat Saint Peter's again today. Their 10-game winning streak is actually the longest active streak in D1.
Tomorrow is the regular season finale (Marist drew a bye for the final MAAC weekend) and although they have a shot at the regular season pennant, I worry they'll be rusty when the tournament starts on the 25th. Hopefully they can scrounge up an OOC game or 2 to get some work in.
EDIT: apparently they did in fact add a game Tuesday at perennial NEC contender Central Connecticut. Better than nothing I suppose.

Damn Baseball choked away a 10-3 lead in 8th to lose 11-10 Not Great, Bob!! the guys are gonna have to stew about that for a week until the MAAC bracket comes out. Hey, if Siena can just take 1 at Fairfield this weekend, the Red Foxes are outright regular season champions and the #1 seed. They've clinched at least the 2 seed and a first round bye. Get the pitching in order. They've got a pretty high powered offense for a MAAC team. No big sluggers but everyone has some pop. Should have several 1st Team All-MAAC picks and Gavin Noriega ought to be MAAC Rookie of the Year, plus IMO Chris Tracz should be Coach of the Year.

Fairfield beat Siena 9-3 in the series opener. Still two more chances for the Saints to deliver a pennant to their good buddies down Route 9!

Canisius has named Tom Hanna as their next Volleyball coach. He had been at Akron. Was Marist coach 2007-2015. And his daughter Jillian is on the Marist team now. Welcome back.

Fairfield clobbers Siena again, 15-4.
One last chance tomorrow. Siena won't make the tournament so maybe they go extra hard in their last game of the season.
The other 4 participants besides Marist and Fairfield will be Canisius, Monmouth, Rider, and either Manhattan or Niagara. That probably will come down to the last game tomorrow.

Siena continues to be completely useless, getting slaughtered a 3rd and final time at Fairfield 19-8. The Stags thus claim the regular season championship at 18-5 with Marist runner up at 17-5. Stupid rain outs.
Marist will open on Thursday with either Canisius or the Monmouth-Rider winner from Wednesday. Clover Stadium on the Palisades Parkway in Rockland County.
Niagara swept Quinnipiac this weekend to claim the 6 seed. The Purple Eagles started 0-7 in the MAAC but won 11 of their last 14 including 4 in a row at the wire to beat out Manhattan by 1 game.

Tracz got Coach of the Year and 4 Marist guys got 1st Team as opposed to only 1 Fairfield player. Their fans are so mad online, love to see it. Crying about how they won the regular season.
Please, they were 18-5 with 1 rainout and we were 17-5 with 2 rainouts. Fairfield won 2 of 3 at Marist in late March. Absolutely virtually identical, but they're entitled to everything of course. Precious little rich twits.
