Do not forget Coach Pitino has yet to serve his NCAA suspension. I think it’s 5 games.

Saw a story when he listed it this year. He's been trying to sell it for about a decade haha.

Maybe our sales pitch to recruits should include that they would get to compete against Pitino 2 or 3 times a year. The size and talent of the kids he has coming in really separates them from the rest of the Conference, it would help if Mack or Solomon signed here.

No-one else is winning the maac title with pitino coming. But, I think he stays a year, then bolts. If peopie accept him, he gets good pub, a bigger program scoops him up.

We need need more size, Iona just signed 7'1", 6'9", 6'9", 6'8", Solomon and Wague would help.

I'm guessing no summer sessions with 9 new arrivals (and I don't think he's met any of the returning players) is something Pitino isn't too excited about

i'm looking at Iona's record and schedule ..10-0 conference ..3 losses out of conference to #4 Kansas , Saint Louis and to Belmont ..thats it .Quietly , they are building an at large case in case they don't win the Maac tourney ..that is if they pretty much run the table the rest of the year .impressive year so far ..

Chatter on the Iona Board regarding a “lifetime” contract for Pitino. Makes sense. Maybe Iona is truly his last job. Makes Iona all that much more attractive a target in re-alignment talks. Pretty much guarantees Iona MBB will dominate the league. If he still covets another big time job having this out in public potentially motivates big time suitors thinking about taking a flyer on him.

Interesting. There's been some chatter in the press earlier in the week so I'm curious if Pitino is looking for a raise or to get more leverage for some other perks or funding. He has a $5 million buyout "The Hall of Famer has repeatedly said Iona College will be the last stop in his legendary career, but when asked by The Post this week, he took a somewhat different stance. “My goal is to finish my career at Iona. That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t entertain to be an NBA coach again,” the 69-year-old Pitino said from his new office at the New Rochelle school. “I can’t say , because then you look like a liar if you ever do. My total motive is to stay here. I’m a New Yorker. I want to end my career in New York. I live in a place I want to live. But you never know.”
"The biggest factor, Pitino said, is the school’s leadership remaining in place and sharing the same aspirations as he does for the program. Since Pitino arrived, the administration has walked the walk. Iona, the heavy MAAC favorite with an impressive 17-3 record heading into a game Sunday against St. Peter’s, has remade the basketball offices, weight room and locker room for both the men’s and women’s teams, and added a fueling station for players, which offers unlimited food."
