They’ll own the MAAC

You are right. But they do already. His hiring will bring a jolt of energy to a sleepy, complacent league. The top home attendance for every MAAC team will be the Iona game next season. We are all going to love to "hate" them. That, imo, is good for everyone. Maybe it also ratchets up the pressure for other league members to step up their programs.

Well, we can’t be more irrelevant than we already are. Admins have proven they don’t care. TM’s job security seems assured year after year after losing year.
Iona could (and likely will) humiliate us two or three times a year. Patino could take a dump mid court at McCann Arena on the school logo and Marist would remain oblivious to any “pressure to win”.
Phhht to it all.

Well we can’t be more irrelevant than we already are. Hmmmm, how would you suggest they solve it?

Well we can’t be more irrelevant than we already are. Hmmmm, how would you suggest they solve it? I would ask Dennis Murray to work together with Fairfield prez Nemec to do anything and everything required to achieve a Patriot League invitation. With this move and the recent new MAAC strategic plan, the MAAC has made it clear that selling the college down the river for even a .001 percent chance of winning one more MBB game is encouraged and possibly even required. I'm not interested and I would like to leave this party.

This is going to turn into a very interesting next couple of years for the MAAC ..With Holloway , Paulus ,and Pitino ..among others ..the cancellation may have saved Baggetts job..I like us staying here in the MAAC ..we can run but we can't hide . The Patriot is starting to have its own powerhouse with Colgate . I think Pitino will be able to get higher level recruits and transfers than Cluess did . He'll get them from some of the Major teams im sure ..the only thing that might be of hesitation to some of the more prized transfers is that the MAAC at this time is weaker than most mid major conferences although this year it was stronger than the last . Some guys might want to show their talent with a schedule that is tougher.

We don’t have money for Patriot League... we would need to go scholarship in football, they want better athletic facilities. Now that being said the addition of Doctoral programs and the new medical program does make us more attractive

Not sure if moving to the Patriot would help. At least being in the MAAC Marist is in the top tier for academics and campus. Moving to the Patriot and that edge is lost.
Then there's McCann, which isn't great, but is at least league average. In the Patriot it'd probably be bottom 3. Not to mention baseball/football facilities.

Certainly helps get attention to the league.
Getting Rodgers or Boyd would help start the process. We'd have some talented guys to build with.

Pitino's a real dirtbag. No school with any decency should hire him.
