But if it's a problem above the coaches, there needs to be a change so that the reasons for losing can be analyzed. Let's face it, before BG, that program was average at best. He's the guy that ultimately has to be held responsible. I'm only stating these things as the reason for why the program hasn't been good. It's on him. If people are going to blast anyone, it's got to be him. As someone said, he's the constant.
I like Dunne. I think things will work out. But it sure as hell shouldn't have taken this long. You only have a few spectator sports. You'd think we'd expect more success if we're going to keep a guy as long as we've kept him. He's the GM.. In most places, you have to win in the sports that make the news. It would be one thing if they were middle of the pack for 12 yrs. It's been an embarrassment. And the guy never gets asked questions. D'Argenio gets heat if they don't win the league for 5 yrs. And they shouldn't be better than Marist.

And he's bleeped it up since Magarity. And if you do survive that long, you should have to say "we're gonna win and we're gonna win soon." How many rebuilds does one guy get..

Lol. We are so desperate we want to fire the guy who doesn't pick the players or do any game planning. Head on a platter theory. He does a good job for his job title. Simple as that. Let's hope the women's basketball team win again next game. Let's hope the other sports win when they play next. That's what I will do. I will also keep supporting coach Dunne, as I do think he is the guy to get us straightened out.

Fans don't come because a new AD is hired. They come when the coaches bring in good recruits and win. The fans have left, the program is on life support. 12 years, and let me count..1, 2, 3, 4, 5 coaches (is my math right?), one oh whom we are still paying, without a winning season. We can’t do better than TM? Other sports would suffer under a new AD? Nonsense

Which can easily be managed by a new AD.

I'm with you on that fox94. They should never be at the bottom in MBB. And that's what the public sees. I guess what bothers me is that he stayed and Magarity got thrown out. Marist joined the MAAC in 97-98. In the first decade in the MAAC, Magarity recruited players who won 2 Reg Season MAAC titles and were a headache for teams in other years with less talent. They needed a change. They shared the title in 01-02. The next year they were decent after Kennedy and Smith left. Him and Sauers then bring in the greatest group in their history. They were young, show promise, and he gets fired. Then he brings in a guy with Siena ties who totally screws the program. He's a cat with 9 lives I guess.
Can you imagine if BG didn't coach at Lourdes? If he was a girls high school coach in Tennessee, do you think TM ,with his keen eye for coaching talent, would have brought him in?? lol. No. The guy was successful 5 miles away and he decided to make a phone call. Sort of like the call to Bower..
And I'm with Yankee on one point. The kids represent the school well in all sports. So if that's what's important, he's the best AD available. He's well liked. That is good.

We've got to give Dunne time , thats all there is too it ..after a year or 2 if it pans out Murray and Dunne will look like absolute geniuses .U cannot go by the 2nd year of a new coach .Murray could have been evaluated after Maker ..he wasn't . I think a lot of people like him including myself ..and are going to have patience with him in MBB..and lets not down play his significance with WBB..

BTW TM and genius are mutually exclusive.

Fans don't come because a new AD is hired. They come when the coaches bring in good recruits and win. And people don't buy sneakers when Nike hires a new CEO...but the CEO gets fired when their most important asset (and make no mistake about it, MBB should be this school's moneymaker) is a complete disaster for 12 years. The blame always starts at the top.

There is a difference between saying "This is entirely the AD's fault"
and "Maybe a new AD could help fix things."
Personally I believe that TM is a very average AD. Marist is one of the top academic schools in the conference, and typically the better academic schools win more at the olympic/non-revenue sports.
I give him no credit for the Giorgis hire. It was a low-risk/high reward guess that worked out wonderfully.
TM might not be the problem, but a new AD could be part of the solution. Especially considering the challenges that MBB faces in recruiting to a place that thinks they are Harvard and has to compete with a bunch of glorified 4 year junior colleges on a nightly basis.

You give him no credit for hiring a high school coach to a d1 head coaching position? That's ridiculous. He saw a great coach in giorgi s and hired him. You can't fault him for negative things and disregard the good things.
