you'll all be standing in line next year trying to get a photo op with Murray after a successful basketball season . He made 1 bad hire ..Maker ..Martin's tenure was tumultuous but it wasn't a bad hire ..We had the reverse problem we have now . Good players were leaving the program ..and transferring to schools that generally went to the post season . Now we are in the situation in the last 5 years that players that were'nt all that good of d 1 players were being encouraged to leave and find schools that could utilize them ..mostly in d 2 level..but in retrospect losing Austin Williams was a big mistake .We can't say Dunne is a bad hire ,if we could we could see evaluating Murray as well ..

Athletics isn't a top priority for Marist administration including the director of same. The few people on this board bemoaning it (me being one) will not change that direction.
As to the current MBB program, I am not expecting some magical transformation into a top tier program with the MAAC. The HC has a large sample size that can be leveraged for review and the results just aren't there (4 MAAC seasons of .500 or better out of 14, less than stellar recruiting results the last 2 seasons, etc). Take away the 1 season making it to the big dance and the resume is discouraging. Yes I want them to win however hoping vs being realistic are separate trains of thought.

I don't think the decision to hire an assistant from Kentucky was bad. The results though, were bad. And then following it up with his former roommate and Maker also had bad results.
How much though is TM vs. DM. Wasn't it President Murray who wouldn't allow a logo at midfield of Tenney? Also, the JUCOs situation seemed relaxed after Yellen was president when Dunne was hired...or did Maker not know about JUCOs?

Have to say all of TM's MBB coaching hires have been bad with Dunne still an incomplete. Bower and Maker were terrible hires. Martin got off to a terrible start. I will say that Martin figured it out but it took him 4 years. His first 3 years were so bad though that he had no room for error or misfortune when he started bringing the Lewis's, Kemp's, Bowie's and Hart's of the world in and went from 6-27 to 14-18. Unfortunately for him he suffered major misfortune when Hart and Bowie got hurt and missed all and half (respectively) of the 12-13 season and the team fell to 10-21. That team goes much better than 10-21 if they dont lose 45 combined games of those two well above average players. But he made his bed with his first 3 seasons.
The thing that I go back to (and its been touched on by a few posters in this thread) is what was the gameplan after firing Magarity? We all agree AT THE TIME that it was a good move because I interpreted it as Marist saying "we want more than MAAC semi finals and good teams 4 of every 7 years". Somehow they thought changing the coach and nothing else was going to get them there. It turns out that Magarity was the guy propping up men's bball with his good JUCO and NE HS connections. If the school wasnt ready to make major investments in the MBB program they shoudlve never canned Magarity

Good point ,,much anger directed at TM ,,TM doesn't hire and fire himself , he has a boss ..rarely do u see negative DM posts ..and he's happy with TM ,so am I
