Sneaky truth. Rider is just not that good. Announcer mentioned the fact that several of their wins have been by 5 points or less. A Fox victory @ Lawrenceville would put a real seed of doubt in their heads. I also wonder about usage for Stella. Playing a ton of minutes (maybe to keep her atop national scoring rankings?), which could take a toll in January. She's also having a rough year from beyond the arc. There's a path where they are the three seed which makes them play a back-to-back in AC.

In terms of Stella's minutes, I think they need them since they have so many close games. Hopefully that helps us in March

Until we beat them - they ARE better Does that mean that St. P. is better than they are?

Not worried about St. Peter's - they beat us Head-to-head so we need to return the favor

Sure. But they beat us, in overtime, in a game where one player made three ridiculous miracle threes. Not sure that makes them "better".
But that's what's great about sports - in the final analysis it's not about people's judgments - win the games.

I agree with everything that has been said here but personally on paper I think we are better than they are. Not saying it is a huge gap, but I think there is one. Tuesday may make me eat my words but we will see

speaking of SPU, reserve Phylina Holmes (only played in 7 games this season) has left the team and entered the transfer portal.

I watched the game and IMO Rider look tired from the tip off. They were making stupid fouls that they normally don't. Stella looked gassed from the start and a lot of her shots missed the rim and even at least 4 air balls. Some of her layups were short rimmed. She seamed to try to win the game by herself. She was 8 for 25 on FG's 0 for 6 on 3's. It's a long season and you may wonder if she can keep up the pace she was play at. Also they had 10 assists and 19 TO's.
The team shot 22-68 for 32% and 1 for 20 on 3's for 5%. in the last two games they scored 48 pts vs Monmouth and 56 vs St Peters.
Marist has to beat Manhattan and than than take care of Rider.

I wonder if they try and do a box and just hve someone shadow her the entire time. I think we did that in the NCAA to a team

Watching Stella play us this year, she was very effective but looked "gassed" much of the game...sometimes even walking down the court. A great player but she is heavily relied upon to carry her team to victory.

Like every game, I like this Marist teams chances to win playing a sound fundamental game. Ball security, Rebound, defend. Limit the second chances. No gift possessions.

Fairfield trails Canisius 29 - 25 at the half. If THAT score holds, I think that would be even more surprising than St. P beating Rider. We'll see.
