MLAX starts the MAAC Schedule 0-1 dropping a road game to Wagner. Wagner was picked last in the coaches poll. Yikes! Softball finishes the Jacksonville Tournament 2-1 with 2 rain outs.

Samantha Rogers earns MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for softball, another emerging star for Joe Ausanio.
Anna Sidlowski tosses a shutout and Kaitlyn Husic homers to lead Marist over Bucknell 3-0 today in Jacksonville; they'll play JU at 7 pm tonight after the Bison-Dolphins game. Fun fact: Both the head coaches for Marist and Bucknell graduated from Jacksonville.

Foxes sweep Bethune-Cookman 6-5, 1-0; they fly to California for the weekend at 17-5. They might nearly reach last year's win total before MAAC play even really gets going.

Foxes beat Jacksonville 2-1, Marist improves to 15-5 on the season. What a dream start for a northern ball club Take from it what you wish but Jacksonville defeated #23 Florida State in Tallahassee. The Foxes were ranked #98 prior to sweeping Bethune-Cookman. The Foxes next two opponents, North Dakota State and St. Mary’s are ranked #138 and #173, respectively. The highest ranked team they have beaten so far is #85 Gardner-Webb and highest ranked team they have played is #71 North Florida, a loss. Central Conn. St. whom Marist defeated in mercy rule fashion is ranked #86. Go figure!

Softball like Baseball can be equalized by a pitcher - with one pitcher you might be ranked 68 and another 87 (yeah I know it doesn’t work that way). But every team can be better or worse then ranking depending on who is pitching

It is bonkers how much better a healthy Miah McDonald makes the Marist lineup, which was already pretty hard to work through for MAAC (and let's say MAAC-adjacent quality) pitching.
She just hit her 7th home run of the season on MAAC opening day, her OPS right now is about 1.000.

Marist sweeps Quinnipiac in a doubleheader to open MAAC play and will go for the series sweep on Sunday (tomorrow has already been wisely declared a rain out.) Sidlowski shutout in G2.

Foxes pulverize QU 14-0 to sweep the series. Ahr, Howard, McDonald, Husic all go yard.
Marist outscored the Bobcats 23-1 in the series. Is that good? That seems like it's good.
Women's lax clobbered Manhattan on the road to start MAAC play with a W. It will still be a learning/growing year for that program, but the first conference win and road win for Coach Detelj has to feel sweet.

A light week for Marist softball awards but freshman pitcher/outfielder Anna Sidlowski was named co-Rookie of the Week (shared with a Fairfield player); still counts as back to back honors and her 4th of the season.
