I'm a regular follower of this Board and finally registered . I can't believe the bad luck the team has had over these past months. I do think that the group of players that are left are a tight knit group that will give their all!

I was wondering why no videos introducing the freshmen have been posted this summer. I enjoyed learning a little bit about the freshmen last summer before the season got started.

I think we are looking to straighten out our house before worrying about who our opponents would be - a year ago many of us where thinking the 2015-16 season was going to be one of the best in school history, hoping to keep Jarosz for 6th year and having Blais/Coffey as seniors with Lai running point - that is all gone. We are going to be young - but we do have a fantastic recruiting class coming in and I believe Maine product Clement is going to take game to different level, next year. I think we will see one or two more additions before next year, but we are in Flux That being said Marist has always come out of these tourney's with some big wins - in last 5 years alone we have wins against Utah, Utah St, Auburn, St. Bonny, Wake Forest, Louisville, Nebraska, Houston, George Washington, and East Carolina to name a few - so hoping we can come out of here with a W - at least UConn isn't playing. Watching the incoming freshman play..Marua Fitzpatrick def looks to be the frontrunner for the freshman. very quick off the dribble and can shoot the 3. If marist gets Jarosz back we could be in for good year despite the transfers. Allie Clement was going to split the point with Jordyn Jossart but with Jossart out now it seems to be the international point guard will get experience this year which will help come future years..

Stories by all local news outlets need to cite the hypocrisy of this decision vs some of the other decisions that favored larger schools.

Well now as we can finally move on to the 2015-16 season with a full roster, there is no doubt in my mind that we can improve dramatically from last year. The OOC schedule is brutal beyond brutal and we might not get the warm and fuzzies early on but I think this team can win the MAAC. We lost 5 players but only 1 that will be hard to replace (Blais) the others are easily replaced or improved upon.
Fogarty, Lai, Birchmeier, and Gomez accounted for only 14 ppg so where do those points come form?
Baab averaged 1.2 ppg, with more playing time I can easily see here averaging 6 ppg (+4.8 ppg) Clement averaged 6.0 ppg while playing hurt most of year to see that number jump by 3 is not crazy (+3 ppg) Cofffey averaged 12.6 ppg as a senior with more looks this number will jump to 16.6 (+4 ppg) Fitzpatrick I am predicting will be an unusual talent and make an immediate impact - similar to Clement last year maybe even better 7-8 ppg Idont think is out of the question (+7 ppg)
That makes up 19 ppg from what we lost.
Bartner, Lavisa, Rebekah, Rosales, and Van Horn can make up the rest

Bartner, Lavisa, Rebekah, Rosales, and Van Horn can make up the rest I think the biggest improvement on this team can come from the chemistry. Can they get those points back, probably, but like you say, by committee. I think there is the potential for great leadership and stability from Jarosz and Coffey. The other side of the coin for me are the following. No point guard. Say what you will about Gomez but she ended up #36 nationally in assist to turnover ratio last season. At best its going to be an out of position Clement. Beyond pure points, no Blais makes Marist easier to defend and easier to score on. The NCAA keeps 15 categories of individual stats. Blais was in the top 112 in 6 of them last season. You can replace the points, but you can't replace the impact of a player that does so many things so well on the court. Young players in the Marist system. Even the great ones have experienced a tough learning curve. It's scary that there are so many inexperience, often injured players being relied upon this season. Can they contend, surely, but they need an impact player to emerge from the ranks of the bench players or the freshman class, an injury free year and health dose good fortune to see them back up at the top again this season. One other plus is that this group will not be facing impossible expectations. That load IMHO falls squarely on Quinnipac who couldn't have timed their entry into the MAAC any better. Targets on their back now. They share some of that with FF who has been knocking on the door a la Iona for a few years and now with Marist seemingly down, on paper at least, the pressure is on them to prove that they can be Quinnipiac, at least.

I disagree on the "No Point Guard" comment:
"McAuley senior point guard Allie Clement, who has signed a national letter of intent to play next season at Marist, has been named the 2014 Gatorade Maine girls’ basketball player of the year."
Clement won Gatorade POY for playing point guard - in fact I believe she will be more comfortable at the 1then she was at the 2.
YES I agree with the chemistry portion - that was so lacking last year and I also think there is more motivation surrounding this team this year. I think even the incoming freshman understand that they were recruiting with the idea that they can help put us back on top.

You stole my thunder on Clement Nomar. I think there are many that don't know she's actually a point guard. We do have three returning starters, the potential POY in Jarosz, a second year big in Baab who by many accounts has improved greatly, a super frosh in Fitzpatrick, (I've seen her play) and she's a real stud trust me. I have no doubt we will be hoisting the MAAC trophy come March...

Fair enough about Clement. However, here is what I see. Jossart is a point guard. Edwards is a point guard. The recruit allegedly behind Edwards is a point guard and the kid from Sweden is a point guard. Heck, you can even consider Hannah Hand a point guard, ESPN does. Anyway, it just looks to me the staff is looking everywhere for a point guard.

Watching Clement last year I saw a good mid range shooter, and a hard nosed defender. I also saw a below average ball handler and a player who looked for her own shot first, nothing resembling a point guard. Both Lai and Gomez will be greatly missed, even they had trouble bringing up the ball against quick guards like Temple had. The transition form high school to college at the point is huge, also Clement should work on her 3 point shooting, 17% is poor for a shooting guard.
