What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. That that best I can come up with at this time. Oh, and no UConn.

Thought he was more along the lines of Billy Joel:). In terms of this tourney, great opportunity to make some early noise, or more likely get experience playing good teams early in the season. Couple of those games are not impossible.

Thought he was more along the lines of Billy Joel:). LOL yankee. Kelly can belt out a pop anthem as well as anyone ever has. That phrase was around long before it became a line in a pop song. Billy Joel is great. He burst on the scene when I was in College. Piano Man, the album, made of vinyl at the time, was hugely popular, particularly since Joel made no bones about being from Long Island, as was about 50% of the students at Marist at the time. Actually, I'm more of a lover of particular performances than I am of a whole body of work with two exceptions being the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen. I like to post lyrics as commentary in my signature space now and then and link to a performance of the song IMHO is particularly good. My current one is more about the performance than commentary. Susan Tedeschi's soulful vocal is to die for and if Derck Trucks' solo doesn't send a chill up your spine I can recommend a good Neurologist. But that's just my opinion.

This schedule is too tough, waaaah! I want to transfer..... I know we should move on, but that would be a great little tourney experience for the all about me selfies. Got to be a lot of places a player could visit to make the photo all about oneself. Maybe even get photo paper that has little stars that encircle the photograph.

If Blais goes to USF she will only be a 2 hr drive away to come see all her "friends" I'm sure they would love to see her - since she won't be playing basketball next year

Great to see Maine involved in a tourney with Marist. I've been hoping for a Maine/Marist match-up soon and it may happen in November!
What does everyone think the match-ups will be? My prediction:
Louisville vs. Marist Purdue vs. Dayton
Stanford vs. Missouri State LSU vs. Maine
Thoughts?

I think we are looking to straighten out our house before worrying about who our opponents would be - a year ago many of us where thinking the 2015-16 season was going to be one of the best in school history, hoping to keep Jarosz for 6th year and having Blais/Coffey as seniors with Lai running point - that is all gone.
We are going to be young - but we do have a fantastic recruiting class coming in and I believe Maine product Clement is going to take game to different level, next year. I think we will see one or two more additions before next year, but we are in Flux
That being said Marist has always come out of these tourney's with some big wins - in last 5 years alone we have wins against Utah, Utah St, Auburn, St. Bonny, Wake Forest, Louisville, Nebraska, Houston, George Washington, and East Carolina to name a few - so hoping we can come out of here with a W - at least UConn isn't playing.

My prediction: Louisville vs. Marist Purdue vs. Dayton Stanford vs. Missouri State LSU vs. Maine Thoughts? I'm kind of hoping Marist plays Stanford. Only because I don't think they have ever met. Marist defeated Louisville in the Duel in the Desert, lost to Purdue in a Thanksgiving Tournament, and was defeated in the second round of the NCAA Tournament by LSU on their home court in Baton Rouge. I'm thinking someone has to tell us about Maine. I know they had a great year until stumbling late. Did the squad lose any major contributors to graduation? Where do you think they will be picked in the AE? Albany is on a roll in the league these days and there recruiting has been focused on athletic kids who seem to be able to contribute almost immediately. Does Maine return enough to sustain the high level last season? Marist, on the other hand is in total rebuilding mode. Based on Giorgis' track record I don't expect much from the freshman. Not that I don't think the incoming class is exceptionally talented, but it is very, very rare that freshman learn enough of the motion offense to gain the kind of playing time to make an impact. Maybe necessity becomes the mother of invention this season, but I won't count on it. Based on current events however, I do think one area where they might be improved from the first day of practice is team chemistry. Compatibility, IMHO, has always been fundamental in Marist's success. IMHO it's nuts to think about next season in the way us Marist fans have become accustomed. It's more about seeing what the newbies bring to the table and how much they improve as a unit as the season progresses.

WOW this year can not get any more challenging ..... If season started today who would start?
SF - Coffey PG - Clement F - Baab SG - Fitzpatrick C - Henningdottier/Bartner??
This is a team that could wind up in the middle of the pack in the MAAC - BUT they will be ready for next year.
What ever happened to Casey Davidson? Can she not be listed on roster until school starts because she is considered a walk on???

When you look at the current roster, you have only three other players who have been playing in this system - Baab, Van Horn, and Rosales... Van horn was giving the starting nod at bringing of last year but was unable to hold on to it, I would love to see something click in her for her Sr year, I think Baab will make the biggest jump out of those three, and we can only hope that Rosales is truly getting healthy and ready to go.

This will certainly be an interesting year. I'm still holding out a speck of hope for Tori but either way, it will be a trial by fire situation. I do feel that we will still be dangerous come tournament time and coach will work his magic.
