It looks like the capital campaign at FU is bearing fruit.
It's a MAAC arms race. We need a Bucknell type arena in the worst way.

From the President's welcome back message:
The Buildings and Grounds Committee has continued to work on the initial programming and design for the McCann Fitness Center. As we have reported, our first priority is to address the structural issues that have arisen in McCann’s 1997 fitness addition. Over the summer, we installed new structural steel bracing, as recommended by the structural engineers at Thornton Tomasetti. We anticipate that the new bracing will extend the timeframe for the building, giving us additional time to develop plans for a new fitness center. To assist us in our planning, the College has engaged Hastings and Chivetta Architects, Inc., a firm with extensive experience in athletic and recreational facilities in higher education. To date, we have reviewed preliminary floor plans developed by Robert AM Stern Architects (RAMSA) in collaboration with Hastings and Chivetta Architects, Inc. After review, the Buildings and Grounds Committee has requested that the design team modify some elements of the floor plan and develop alternate façade schemes to be evaluated later this semester.
Does this mean they are planning to replace McCann?

Doesn't make sense, the arena needs to be upgraded. As yankee says, "Raise the roof!".

Doesn't make sense, the arena needs to be upgraded. As yankee says raise the roof! I think the FF Master Plan has it right. New construction to meet general university needs as well as athletic goals for a dedicated home for M/W Hoops and Volleyball. You could then repurpose the old facility for student recreation, wellness and maybe even community use. There, aren't I great at suggesting how other people should spend their hard earned money. Anyway, since Marist seems to be surrounding the basketball court with new construction it's hard to draw the conclusion that the arena proper is bugging anyone there too much.

Are they putting Marist logos on the field? They're putting Dennis Murray face at mid-field
