Sorry, but no college should be providing housing and using the housing to make money for other projects or facilities. The cost of student housing should be to pay for the housing facility and nothing else. The room & board fees the students pay should not be to help fill the coffers for other things. It should be to pay for the Room & Board facilities & staff. I am sure that is the way Marist College operates!!!
The athletic facilities should come from a separate portion, part of the overall budget or the Capital budget.

When the McCann Center was renovated, everything was improved except the Red Fox Den, we're obviously taken for granted, they know we'll come anyway. I was in the Amherst College booster club and it made you feel like your special, our Club is a dance studio.

Curious how many have seen the total renovation that was done to the McCann Center, like the offices, athletes' lounges, the hall leading to the offices where receptions are held, stuff like that. Far surpasses most of the MAAC, or PL facilities I expect. And the arena with chair-backs, video screens and productions ... haven't seen many high school gyms like that. Surprised by the reaction to the McCann Center here. I often use it as an example of how a renovation should be done. Great experience which will improve even more when we get more Ws

marist, have you been to navy, bucknell, lehigh, laf just did their gym have not seen it yet, those are 3 off the top of my head, also holy cross is redoing their whole facility, something like 91 million with a 9000 sq ft weight room, and a second practice facility. We dont even have a dedicated varsity weight room, crazy since we have a football team. Who cares about a hall?? We need a weight room, a real practice facility etc. In the maac, QU, monmouth far outshine what we have. These schools are our competitors for recruits. Yes most hs gym dont have a video board, ok. McCann basically is a fancy hs gym, most of the seating is bleachers (capacity 3200, about 1200 chairbacks), low ceiling, no concession stands, dark and cramped. It would help us recruiting if we had a 3-4k seat bowl type arena where one walks down to seats from a concourse with real concession stands etc, center scoreboard/videoboard etc.

Lafayette has a nice facility overall, the gym upgrade replaced bleachers with chairbacks, nothing special, nod to marist. Lehigh old, just so-so, Marist. Bucknell, big upgrade, nice if you like bowl-shaped arenas. Marist better than HC until facility is ready, their gym upgrade is replacing bleachers with chairbacks. Army/Navy different league for $ than everyone else. Mentioned the hall, etc because recruits see these areas and it's impressive. Pretty sure McCann CT has a practive court

what HC is doing will far outshine anything Marist has. Since hoops is the premier sport at marist, at least imo, Marist should have top notch mid major facilities, and it does not, we are not even the best in the MAAC. Not having a weight room is ridiculous. That hurts recruiting especially on the guys side. There is no practice facility for hoops, the old gray gym with the warped floor i wouldnt have anyone play on that for risk of ijnury. McCann just does not compare to top level mid major arenas, and I feel that is one thing prospects look at. Athletic facities for other sports at Marist are lacking in some respects as well, i.e. a track team with no track

I may be missing your point, but from the MC web site, here's info on conditioning and practice courts ...
The Strength and Conditioning Center encompasses two floors and is able to comfortably accommodate over 100 student-athletes. It provides cutting-edge equipment to assist with the physical training and development of all Marist student-athletes. The center has a over 40 pieces of Wynmore free weight equipment on the first floor complimented by Ivanko dumbbells and Olympic lifting platforms
In September of 2011, the field house area of the McCann Center was re-branded as McCann Arena after a summer which saw significant construction take place in the entire building. Renovations were made to add space in the lobby and restrooms. A new maple floor covers the entire space within the arena. Three wood basketball practice courts were installed, and six state-of-the-art Spalding baskets were purchased through the generosity of the Red Fox Club.

The Red Fox Club still looks like a converted dance studio, it's a joke.

marist, you have never actually seen the "weight room" i gather. Most D1 schools have a dedicated varsity only weight room not one shared with the general student pop. They will usually have top notch equipment with plenty of squat racks etc for a whole team to work out easily. What marist has is not even a room, its an area with some weight equipment, some of it not in great shape, i will grant you it is on two floors, but not by design LOL, they just put stuff wherever they could. Look i am not hating on Marist here. I love the school. I just want it outshine other mid majors in all aspects, and as far as facilities and it certainly does not, doesnt matter what the website says

Dedicated Football Weight Room at Liberty Christian School in Argyle, TXHigh school of 2016 WBB recruits Hannah and Rebekah Hand. I think when people see this kind of commitment they think why not at a College, particularly schools competing in D1. According to the Marist College website the current strategic plan is due to be replaced at the end of 2016. The capital projects completed during the last 5 years were pretty identified in the expiring plan. Will be interesting to see what types of capital initiatives show up in the next 5 year plan.

Look for an environmental science building.
A Track would be nice. New McCann might be asking too much?

They have hired this architecture firm to design the new McCann Fitness Area. www.hastingschivetta.com/experience/athletics/When you go through all the projects this group has done and when I see some of the arenas that these DII & DIII schools have verse McCann I just hope someone say "you know what if we are going to do this.... Lets do it right and get a proper basketball facility"
