I'd rather get an arena. I guess this stuff pays the bills but we are still playing in a nice HS gym.

You put Monmouth's arena on this campus and you would our recruit all other MAAC schools

It took 30 years for the McCann Renovations. This proposed building would replace a 40 year old Donnelly if it's built. That probably puts the new Arena ground breaking somewhere between 2040 and 2045.
D%mn nice looking building by the way.

Hard to argue when academics trumps athletics.
I think the administration does a good job balancing the two with the resources they have.
They put money into the McCann renovation recently, Tenney Stadium before that and reportedly are looking to add a track up around North Field in the near future.
With that being said a new arena would be so welcome!
Pony up alumni!

fox94 - i was somewhat joking - I love what Marist has done, I said it before i'll sat it again I wish I went there!!! My Marist was very very different (still had the greatest people in the world back then) but our buildings had more "character" back then. I get the academic buildings and how great the campus looks but I also think that if we had an Arena like Monmouth we would win a lot more recruiting battles, and win titles. I really think we lose some kids if it is a close call the McCann GYM hurts us.
The women's side has a better selling point as they can sell CROWDS - sure you can play in a bigger Arena with 500 people or play at McCann in front of 2500-3200 fans who love the program and support it.

You know if I was bitching that we should have an Arena like BC or an A10 school i would get it but i guess I am jealous that a school like Monmouth can have an arena like that and we can't, even Bucknell's would be a great addition.

Bucknell's should be the model we aspire to have IMO.

Just reading this thread for the first time......way back when I was going to Marist..........you should have seen the Gym.......was a drafty narrow building that might have been used for many things, but should never have been used as a Gym........the basketball team (only Men's back then) played its home games at the Our Lady of Lourdes Gym behind the old High School...lucky I can remember back that far; but since 1969 it is mind boggling the changes that have taken place.......not just in facilities; but also in academics and especially student body..... and I think the changes have all been for the good.......
