I spoke to someone close to the Marist Athetic Administration and they said that no paper work has come through for David yet and they do not expect him to be back next year. Now this doesn't mean it's guarunteed the paperwork won't find it's way to Marist over next few weeks but for now I was told it doesn't look good.
I was also told that Marist has another recruit who could be close to signing for next season. I have no idea who it could be. If you check out recruitrecon.com (formerly caainsider.com) they have listed a new player within the last week who Marist has interest in but has not offered. His name is Alex Drecksel and he's a 6'4", 180 lb 2-G from Idaho, but played in Florida this past year. He is receiving heavy interest from Marist, Rider, Harvard, Northern Arizona, Utah Valley and Utah State. He's described as a shooter with good range who can drive a bit as well. Was an All-State selection in Idaho before arriving in Florida.
As far as the rumor that stirred up alot of controversy regarding LB Williams...I aksed my contact about that and got a wishy washy answer. They wouldn't commit to LB being out, but also wouldn't confirm he'll be back.
There's a chance that we may have as many as 8 newcomers next year rather than just 6...we'll have to see what happens.
Anyone else have any info on the above topics?

Why would Devezin not be back? It's not like he could transfer again?

Why would Devezin not be back? It's not like he could transfer again? When David came to Marist in 2007-2008, Coach Brady and the Marist administration never secured paper work stating he had received a medical red-shirt his freshman year at Texas A&M. They just assumed he got the red-shirt I guess. The Marist admin assumed (were verbally told) that he got the red shirt in 2005-2006 at A & M and used his first year of eligibility at JUCO San Jacinto in 2006-2007, his second year of eligibility at Marist in 2007-2008 and his third year this past season, 2008-2009. So next year under those assumptions would be his fourth year...however it came to light this past December (13 months after David first played a game at Marist), that Devezin NEVER received a med red shirt his first year at A & M in which he played 3 games. So that first year counts meaning David is done after last season, unless Marist can negotiate a red-shirt after the fact which thus far they have not been able to do. For the record David's coach at San Jacinto was also under the impression that he had received a red-shirt after his first year at Texas A & M. Why Marist never actually secured the paper work for this is beyond me.

Actually this issue came to light last April right after Brady left - during golf outing with Murray he said that he had asked Brady for this paper work for quiet some time and was assured it was coming. They have been tryin gto get this resolved for a year - so the fact that it isnt does not bode well. (not all Brady's fault the admin needs to have all paper work delivered prior to signing player)
I'm more dissapointed for David - who is a class act - but I feel he deserves a year of winning and not dealing with issues.

Thanks for the clarification Nomar...I didn't know they knew about it last April...good info. I agree this is not only Brady's fault...the blame is shared here.

I do agree with you here about the blame being shared. That's one place the Marist athletic admin has been shoddy - there have been multiple issues for transfers over the past decade or so that should have been picked up... I can only imagine the issues for sports other than hoops.
