Centers: Kemp, Adam Prinsloo, Pieter
Forwards: Alexis, Anell Bowie, Jay Carter, Dorvell Thomas, Manny
Gaurds: Morton, Isaish Lewis, Chavaughn Price, Devin Hall, R.J. Curry, TJ Dallas, George
Dribble4Drive on 4/25/11 - "The team is very young and not going to win a conference championship next year.. Why not be the run'n'gun team that no team wants to play especially in mccann. This style will generate a lot of excitement and make the team easy to cheer for unlike the past two years. Press full court make lots of subs and push the ball on every single possession. Speed speed speed!"
DD, ill give you the credit for this one ..... You were pretty much on target ...
So im hearing that this is exactly what Chuck plans on doing (not exactly pressing every play tho;) .. but def run and gun and play @ a crazy fast pace with a 10+ rotation ...
BTW, we didnt get our guy ... we didnt get any guy .. the roster is what it is ...
I personally like this plan but Martin is running a huge risk w/ his job not banking another big man for this season! Sounds fun tho!
Lets go Red Foxes! Fresh start, New found success!

Peta, hard to get out and run when the team can't get rebounds or defend. Can't get out on a fast break when the other team is able to shoot layups over undersized forwards. Can't run when their are no rebounds to be had. It is simply a horrible oversight not to have gotten a big body. I was joking in the other thread, but is their a 235 pound guy on the football team that has some basketball backround just to give 5 minutes a game. It is that desperate of a situation. Look at the size of those forwards and I dare anyone to not have a puke bucket available.

Here you go coach Martin. You have a guy on the football team who is 6'5 230. He can bang and intimidate for 5-7 minutes per game. He played 3 years of basketball. You failed this incoming freshman by not getting a big, beg this guy to walk on this year. Bobby Lyons is his name. goredfoxes.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/lyons_bobby00.html

Also posted on the Potential Recruit? page.
ggaff is right on target folks. If you all remember we heard about a big coming a couple years ago (who turned out to be Watson) but it was not made official until the school year began in late August. This scenario is still possible. No Letter of Intent, just a simple acceptance to attend Marist, with financial arrangements attached. The start of the 2011-2012 school year is 3 months away so there's plenty of time. Yeah most of the good ones have already decided where they are going but there are those who have not.

IMO we will be ok with this team and than next year all those big guys are going to be fighting to come to Marist.
But as always all we can do is wait and see what happens.

Yankee, I agree with you ... I always say rebounds equal opportunities ... we do have a scrappy bunch so hopefully we can hustle for what every rebs Kemp dont grab and get out in transition.
Ken, I really hope your right ... what i heard yesterday was that he's set on the guys he had and wanted to run (kinda like the Phoenix Suns, back in the day) .. maybe we have another international big or a late bloomer but talented big coming late ... as much as i like the fast pace offense - we definitely need another PF type ...

I hope what you heard is not completely accurate. I think if this coaching staff is content to go into their make or break season with out another big they will all be looking for jobs in a year. There are bigs who can run by the way Coach Martin.
That said I think we will see big improvement from Carter, Alexis & Bowie our returning forwards. They've shown they can rebound and run so add Kemp to the rebounding crew and this group should get their fair share of rebounds. Where another big comes in handy is when we don't have anyone taller than 6-5 covering a guy 6-9 because the other team has more bigs then Marist or because Kemp is out, for a rest, due to fouls, or h..t. (I won't say it)

I agree with you Ken .. I believe we are one of two maac teams that hasn't recruited a PF/ 6'7+ player ... Martin better have something up his sleeve or this will be his last year in Poughkeepsie. Its a bit disappointing .. however i do love the pieces we have ...
btw Alexis and Cater are both 6'6 .. they are both obviously SF tho and are on the thin side ...

Amdy Fall, Terry Brutus, Chris Ortiz and Marcus Hopper all when to Prep School and are reclassified for 2012. I really dont get it tho. Why would you go Prep and D1 programs offers (or willing) you a full scholarship and a School like Marist can promise plenty of playing time .. I guess they want SEC, ACC, BIG EAST type offers ... or grades, i guess.

If you did not get an offer from them this year, you will not get one next year unless you up your game big time and next year its a lot of Big guys in the recruiting pool that are Big East, ACC and SEC type players. Its hard to change your strips in a year.
