All things considered including recruits and potential recruits.

We lost 3 good recruits and 1 really good transfer..... had a little talent left that should have been enough to bridge a little gap.... they won 10 games with what was left. Our last team just won 6 and lost it's beat player ....and 4 other players that played

I will be shocked if this is even a close vote:
- Major program upheaval with transfers and suspensions - Demoralized fan base (program does not even register among student body) - plummeting attendence at the McCann Center - Pok Journal calling out the coach
I am sure I am missing a few other points...

here is my take on this subject..... If we even have to ask this question we already know the answer. We should not be in the position we are in now where our coach has HIS OWN RECRUITS WHO HE DID NOT WIN WITH transfer out on him. I am hearing that they were pushing some out which if that is true shame on them.
Yes our incoming kids look good but they are still freshman who will need time to adjust to both college and hoops at the maac level. 3 years into this mess, we should have been better off than we are now

Marist mens program being laughed at on AE conference board says it all. This coach has been beyond words bad.

Considering all things as we were asked here, if you are asking about prospects for the future, I'd say we are better off now by a long shot. In year zero, we had Schneider and Devezin one more year, which got us to those 10 wins and little hope for the following year, which ultimately lead to a one win season. Next year will be interesting at least and year one for CM was blah, with little hope at that time for anything better.

CM brings in decent recruits. But none as good as Devezin and Schneider and he is not a good enough coach to coach decent players. He needs a star a year in recruits. That has not happened

I think he has 3 potential above level MAAC players in Morton, Alexis, and Lewis. I have not seen Lewis or Morton play, but their writeups and their success is enough to tell me they have the talent. Plus, it is quite apparent Morton would have gone higher if he was 3-4 inches taller. Lewis sounds like a guy who really blossomed this past year. And while we get annoyed with the Siena fan base, they really do have a few ardent supporters who follow recruits intensely. They wanted Lewis. He has got the skills. Alexis's talent is so obvious and I was seriously pissed Martin didn't see it much of the year. I understand a few posters talked about mental errors and such with him, but better coaching should help him there as well. HE NEEDS TO BE ON THE COURT. If he had transferred out, I would be even more hardcore on the coach needing to be let go immediately. Now, Morton needs to prove his size won't be a big time issue on a D1 level, but he obviously has the confidence in himself. He has big time leadership possibilities right away, especially not having many seniors on the team.

Now saying all that, NO coach in his 4th year should have such a barren junior and senior class. Losing 7 or 8 players to transfer is basically disgusting.

In addition to Lewis Morton could of gone much higher height wasnt the issue just liked coach martin and the situation at Marist great players want a challenge. Just look at walker at florida morton is very similar but much more athletic. Have seen morton dominate bigger players for 4yrs.

pearl, you seem to have a lot of first hand knowledge on the NYC basketball scene. Great to see your posts, usually very informative. Maybe this group be a MAAC version of the old Fab five, just without the bad attitudes, etc:).

I think you will begin to see a team that will buy into the system whole-heartily. It is disappointing to ever lose a player but sometimes it can be addition by subtraction. As coach John Wooden has been quoted many times "Sports don't build character. They reveal it." Losing is hard to take when you have not been used to losing. People need to make a decision on whether they have what it takes to change the fortune or leave and look for greener pastures. I for one appreciate those kids that want to pull together and find a way to right the ship. WIll it be easy? Obviously not. However, the kids that will be here when things come together will be the ones that will be remembered most. Also remember that not all players transfer because of the coach. Academics, unrealistic expectations, homesickness always play a part in the decision making process. I saw the last two game this year in person in Bridgeport and believe that the parts are in place for a better year next year. If the freshman can come in and be factors I believe that they will be better. With the exception of Fairfield the league has much parity. Who knows what will happen at Iona, maybe Glover will declare.
Go Red Foxes
