My apologies if you guys are already aware of this . Goodman reported an hour ago that Marist is in the Hall of FAME Classic . They will open against Vermont . Kentucky , ODU and Penn St. in field . It will be great showcase for Isaiah to begin his show in college hoops . Of course , he will get lot of national pub before that if he can help pull off the miracle against St. Ants and Bobby Hurley . Can't root for that since Bobby and St.Ant's are Jersey City guys like me , but I hope that Isaiah gets to show his stuff against St. Ants and for Marist ( except against the Peacocks ) .

So Marist plays at Kentucky and at USF in sort of automatic consolation games.
The teams are split into even competition brackets at Mohegan Sun with Marist being grouped with VT, LIU and Radford. VT went 23-8 this year and loses it's two top scorers. LIU went 27-5, in the NCAA's and loses it's 3rd and 4th leading scorers. Radford went 2-24 (not including 3-0 vs. DII) including 12 losses by 15 or more, although they were competitive with Florida and Virginia. Radford, like us, had 6 of it's top 7 scorers being FR or SO.

Jajk, thanks for this info. Your presence is really missed on the MAAC board, glad to see you stop around here every so often. You guys deserve this season and I hope you guys can shock Purdue. Ditto this. jajk - I remember you were an RJ Hall booster. Are you at all surprised to see him struggle so much at this level? I tracked his summer ball games before he arrived at Marist for his Freshman year. He had a lights out summer, but it never seemed to translate at this level. Some of us see him buried on the bench for his Sr. Year. Any thoughts?

I believe I posted before the start of RJs Marist career that he would not be a star at this level but he would be a solid MAAC guard who could do a lot of things on the court . I saw him a lot because I was following Wes Jenkins who was his teammate on an outstanding Bloomfield Tech team and was coming to SPC . Iona's Rashon Dwight was also on that team . RJ made the biggest shot in that team's history when he hit a buzzer beating half -courter to beat Linden team in the NJ ToC semis . That Linden team featured Dez Wade who FF fans are so looking foward to next season and two other Div one players including Darrell Lampley whose career with my Peacocks did not turn out well .
I also saw RJ play a lot in the RU summer league against Anthony Nelsen of Niagara , Mike Rosario of RU and now Florida , Mike Coburn of Rutgers , Jeff Robinson of Memphis and then Seton Hall and a lot of other guys . It was summer league brand of bb but RJ held his own against all these guys .
At his best - and I have watched a lot of Marist games because of RJ and because I am a MAAC and hoop junkie - RJ played the way I thought he couls at this level . At times , he performed well below it but sometimes things snowball when a program is struggling . I am most disappointed by RJs acadmic problems at Marist . He always seemed like a great kid to me but I don't know any of these kids personally . I hope that he gets his academics and his hoops straight for his senior year . It is hard to disagree that he may have a tough time with minutes next season with all the guys you have coming back and with Isaiah . But sometimes seniors bring something special to a team .
I am really looking foward to MAAC battles at the point next season . Isaiah , our incoming Lamin Fulton , Dez Wade , Siena's Rahk , Machado in his senior year all are really good and really fun to watch . Alvardo of Jaspers and Belardo of Griffs are also players . Hope I am still on the right side of the ground to see all these guys go at it .
