Price with a million turnovers. He isn't consistent enough to play point. Can be a spot player if he sticks around. At least they didn't quit.

I don't see much playing time for Rusin next year. He doesn't bring much to the table.. Not even shooting..

I've been a big booster of Devin's but I've got to agree with you Ggaff. In the big picture, they make too many mistakes as a group to ever become a consistent team. Same old, same old, down big immediately and playing up hill once again. This year can't end fast enough on the men's side.

Just got back. Good game overall, made competitive by a superhuman game by Prescott. I was also glad to see Alexis got alot of run. You can see he is a player. He is a D1 athlete that is going to be a big time contributer if he stays at Marist. He had a couple nice blocks and hit the boards as well as hit some shots. Bauer showed why he should have been getting the minutes over Prinsloo, shame on Martin for that. But, Martin did OK today. He seemed more positive and didn't screw around with the rotation too bad. Rusin is a complete shell of what he was. He is a human turnover and almost seems afraid to get the ball in the backcourt when they are getting pressed. Price had a decent game, but Machado played with him and Marist all game long. Watson hustled on D and had a couple nice rebounds, but even now that he is in shape, he has trouble with the speed of the game. Carter is a nice roll player being asked to do more. Bowie has hit that freshman wall, didn't do much at all today. Offense is still a mess. They just run to spots, no flow. Carter at one point in the first half was pissed off, shaking his head with the lack of movement. Good energy from the players, decent sized crowd, more positive reactions from the bench. Overall, a good game. Final score is not indicative of the game. It was a close game that Machado took over in the final few minutes. To sum it up, Prescott and Alexis are definite keepers. Price is a good combo guard. Carter can be a good 7th or 8th man on a good MAAC team. And only real complaint with the coach at this point is how he treated Bauer the whole year. He could have helped Marist in a couple games they lost.

Bottom-line: Another 10+ point loss at home. The margin of defeat in this game (15 points) is about their average margin of defeat over the last two years. Consistently sub-standard.
In my opinion, projecting the number of wins for next year is a fool's errand. A better question: Do you think they will be competitive next year? My answer is, unfortunately, no.
I take no solace in individual player statistics since the most important stat is W-L record. Even the worst team in the country has a leading scorer, leading rebounder. So what. It's team play and W-L record that matters.
I can't take this again next season and am not renewing my tickets.

Yankee, I agree it was a game effort today, but they just continue to come up so small in big spots. The work like heck to get the game back to 2 points, then just play so indifferently with the ball for the rest of the game. And, once again, the game was lost in the first minutes. Down 10-0 to start, by 9 at the half and by 15 at the final bell. "Groundhog Day".

Some things that I liked:
Rebounding Margin: Marist 41-31 Sam Prescott: 34 points (obviously) Korey Bauer: 11 rebounds (even I agree he should've been playing this whole time) Anell Alexis played well tonight and showed that he can be the player that most expect him to be. No time from Prinsloo - he has potential, but offers almost nothing to the team now
Some things that need improvement: 18 turnovers - even though Iona is a team whose best defense is getting in the passing lanes, Devin Price with 6 of them Well, really, that's it. That is the whole reason we lost today, just have to learn to take care of the ball in the offseason.
I really liked the energy tonight. Iona is just a really good team with the best point guard in the league and a bunch of bulls down low. Turnovers and the great play of Machado are basically the 2 reasons we lost tonight. For all intents and purposes this was about a 10 point loss after Iona hit a couple of free throws and then a classless layup at the end of the game when there was no defense being played.

Some things that I liked: and then a classless layup at the end of the game when there was no defense being played. I'm glad you brought that up. Yea, the Marist players had conceded (officially) the game and was expecting the IJC player to simply dribble the game out. Dean Darling called it an uncontested layup but it really wasn't, because the 8 of the 10 players on the court were simply standing around waiting for the last few seconds to run out. Did you notice if anything was said by the Iona staff in the handshake line after the game?

You boys did a great job summing up the game and would make some great announcers. I would like to see some new offensive plays to the big men under and into the basket - seems to be missing from the playbook - would add more dimension to the offense. Yes, why has Bauer been on the bench? He rebounded well and made some nice blocks for the shooters. Great hustle, Bauer!
What a shame Prescott was out on athletic suspension last season. . . . You all know what I think has to happen to make Marist a winning team.

Marist would have had a great shot in a couple games if Bauer had played instead of Prinsloo. One example just off the top of my head is the Loyola game at home. Prinsloo played like doo doo that game. I know some will say, well Martin needs to get the young guys time who will be here long term. WELL, I respond back that this group of players needs as much winning outcomes as possible to build some confidence. Losing becomes a habit unfortunately. Bauer situation is very disturbing and I think the Poughkeepsie Journal writer needs to focus on that topic for a story.

Oldfox,
Don't get me wrong. I still like Price as player. Just not as a full time point guard. It sounded on radio that Alexis made some nice defensive plays. If he matures as a player, that would be a big help.

It's weird Yankee. Before this whole "shut down" thing, I've heard CM say nothing but good things about Korey. Ed Weir said that he wasn't working that hard in practice. Or at least that's what he was told.

I was there today. Good summaries by all. Marist certainly played hard and with heart today. They just don't have have the ability as a team to get the big stop or big score (aside from Prescott). Very uneven offense plus too many easy looks given up on the D.
There was a group of very obnoxious Iona fans that moved into the empty Marist season ticket holder section. Extremely loud on EVERY single play and I mean every play...I have no problem with enthusiastic cheering but this was to the point of absurdity.
The layup at the end of the game was classless but on par with a classless team from a classless institution.
GREAT individual performance by Prescott...34 points and a number of big shots when the game was close. He was unstoppable. The 34 is the second best performance by a Marist player since they joined the MAAC. Can anyone name the player and pt total of the only higher scoring effort?

Damnit I've missed Bauer Power. haha Sam was unconscious tonight, a few times he just shrugged his shoulders, didn't know how that was happening...There is no question that this team has missed Korey's emotionally powerful play, if he wasn't so rusty, he would've had about 10 points tonight, few around the rim and out. and he rimmed out a three that would've put us up 1 and sent the student section into a crazed frenzy, We have been waiting all year to cheer, we love Bauer, he shows emotion in the games, he should've been playing all year. the student section would be lively with bauer, trust me, I run it haha....Can'tdon's ass should not leave the bench anymore, he does nothing...in one possession he ran into Devin 30 ft from the basket, couldn't handle a simple 6 foot chest pass and slapped it into Iona's hands. it is disturbing to see him out there. Dorvell had a rough shooting game, but brings other things to the table. Jay may have been sick or hurt, went to the locker room once but by himself. Menelik is just too slow, he is in decent shape now, but still just isn't that great of a player. thing to take away from today, Siena can be beat by Manhattan, we have a chance in the PIG

That would be David Bennett with 42 RF5. I believe that was during a snowstorm against St. Peter's and got on sportscenter for it
