Looks like the coach does a good job teaching the players what to do when they just have to stand around and not be guarded. Free throw shooting has been better I believe. Good job coach. Alexis is not a 3 point shooter. He is a slashing player who should shoot from 15 feet or in. But in this ridiculous throw it around the outside and hoist shots from 22 feet whenever open, or drive right into player, he is purely used. Bowie is just a solid, solid player. Watson has been a big time dissapointment, took him way to long to get into playing shape. Price can be a nice 6th man/combo guard, but needs to cease from those 26 foot heaves. Hall has not hurt not only himself, but his teammates past 2 years, put no faith into him next year, and I hope the staff doesn't either. Carter has stepped up, but is not a PF. Rusin has regressed. Prescott is one of their few MAAC level players. Kemp is going to be a good defensive/rebounder, I am not sold on him ever averaging more than 10-11 points. Just not much positives.

I agree with everything aside from Kemp. I think when he's an upperclassmen he could avg 15. He has shown some good moves in the post. He began spinning both directions and scoring as the season moved on. His numbers are very similar to Alan Tomidy's as a freshman. Kemp just needs to refine and polish his offense...I think every move he needs to be successful is there already...just needs the polish. He was averaging 8ppg already in the 5-6 games before he broke the hand again.

Biggest thing about Kemp is remaining healthy. I hope it is all a streak of bad luck and he is not injury prone. His numbers will be more than satisfactory if he can stay healthy.

Kemp's staying healthy is the key to next season & CM keeping his job. Much more important than anyone else on the team or coming in. He's a guy a coach can build a program around, IF he stays healthy.

Another problem we have (in addition to all the others) is the team just doesn't shoot well. Factors: (1) a poorly designed and/or executed offense scheme, (2) poor clock management - dribble and pass around the perimeter, and settling for a 3-point shot with the clock winding down, (3) minimal low post presence, (4) no transition buckets, etc.
Marist is only shooting 37.8% from the field as a team.
Opponents shooting at 43.6%.

I think Kemp is a 12/8 guy. He's got some post moves. He'll be more than adequate. Bowie is just what most of us thought he was. Prescott lacks the consistency at this time. The talent is there. Price is a head scratcher. Has talent. Shot selection can be much better. Dorvell is a nice player, especially if playing where he should be. He's a warrior. Not sure about Alexis. He does have a decent mid range game. I don't think Rusin will get any better. It's up to Menelik to decide if he wants to be good. He can certainly produce if he dedicates himself. I don't like that he can't elevate. Maybe with the weight loss that will get better.
I agree with everyone. The offensive flow sucks. I guess we'd get a better idea of what guys could do with better offensive structure. I do hate the offense. I really do..

Well put foxman... I think that sums it up. They actually score when they push it...

Yeah, there were a couple times during the St. Peters game that our guys beat the defense back and had nice easy drive to the basket layups. One by Bowie and one by Prescott. When they move they can be good. I guess that's why CM is always telling the PG to push the ball up the court. In order to do this on a regular basis defensive rebounds and quick pass up court is necessary. When running these guys are good.

I got to believe that every DI team will have a "couple of times during a game where they beat the defense and have nice easy drives" does not impress me, show me when they can do it consistantly and I'll buy in. But pointing out one nice drive here, one nice shot there, one nice defensive play, or anyother sweet one and done plays does nothing for the win column - show me a team stat that gets wins

I think pushing the ball up the floor is where the team had its most success this year, such as the Niagara and Canisius games at home. RJ was playing at his highest level at that point and we got a lot of easy buckets and open 3s on the wing. That is where I see the hope for next year. If Morton can consistently play to at least the level RJ was at for that short period and one more year's experience can help the shooters and rebounders, we have a good chance to make some noise next year, especially with all of those teams losing important senior leadership. From what I see and hear, Morton's game fits well with that up-tempo style. If Morton can knock down the 3s when they can't beat the team down the floor, that is an added bonus.

Morton is great in the open floor. Great crossover too. Very good shooting mechanics. Very strong for his size.
