Yankee,
With all of this talk that goes on here, is Murray oblivious to this??? I like a lot of the players. This needs to be discussed between Martin and Murray. If, and I mean if, all of this true, the AD's job is to get this fixed. About Bauer. If he got all of the minutes and Prinsloo wasn't ready for next year, would fans being asking why he didn't play this year? I like Korey. He took a ton of bad shots. Last year, I sat next to a fan that got on his ass the whole game. It was the BU game. One minute a bum, now the fan's martyr? I'm starting to doubt a lot of the Marist fans. It's always easy to second guess. If there is a coaching/morale problem, Murray should be on top of it. Win in men's basketball. That's your new task Murray... Magarity was a class act and half of the fans couldn't stand him... If all of what the "insiders" on this board are saying is true, then Murray is asleep at the wheel.

I agree on Alexis...he's either a big guard or an athletic forward...a tough matchup for the competition either way. He has a good pedigree too. He is hard for me to read though as I cannot tell where his head is at. I would like to see him play a straight 20 minutes or so, some at the 2 and some at the 3 to see what he can do. Just like with Prinsloo, I'd like to see what he has got this year so we know what we have for next year. At worst, I am hoping he is like most freshmen, who get better through practice their first year before seeing meaningful minutes the rest of their career.

If some of it is true, and the more extreme stuff I doubt, Murray will do something end of year. Colleges almost never make a change midseason. In regards to Bauer, not saying he should start. But he should be getting good backup minutes.

I would say this about Prinsloo. He's got an upside. When the game "slows down" for him and Watson, I think they'll both be fine. I watched Prinsloo closely a few times this year. He's got pretty good athletic ability for a late growing big guy.

this is all just so damned sad. Last time I lived close enough to go to Marist games it was 2006-07 and the absolute polar opposite of now. Double J, WW, Stilph, Smith, Spongy et al; students were loud, proud and the games were huge events. Marist men and women combined lost only 1 home game that whole season.
Hard to comprehend how it all got so dire in just 4 years. I mean, I know all the events that led us here, but...I mean...damn. Just ain't right.

First of all, (as mentioned before) I think its a damn shame that everyone has time to stir up drama over here on the mens board but dont have time to find creative ways to comment and show more support/love on the women side .. these women student athletes are simply amazing and deserve more love and attention. ( i think ive seen about 8 post on the ladies board in 2+ weeks)
All this complaining over on this side and we have no control of what going on with the guys team (the only control we do have is to show up to the games and support these young men) ... I dont kno what some of you old timers did or said a few years back but there is def some kind of curse on this mens program right now .. wow
"It's easy to complain about things/ struggles in life, but dont appreciate the great thing." =)
... spend all this extra energy supporting the Ladies and let the mens situation work it self out.
#just saying ...

Petagay77, The guote is from a post awhile back, don't let your damn shame brush paint "everyone"
"haven't seen very many posts for the women. Are we getting complacent with winning? Keep up the support, give praise for good work and a little nudge if you think they need it. Lets not expect them to continue winning lets help them continue winning. "
Some of us just like watching college basketball men's or women's. Have fun

Yankee, Re your post/question: I meant the kids in the community jgood. Jgood, you have many who agree a change needs to be made, but anything you like about the team? I notice you don't seem to have an issue with Lee for example. Also, since coaching changes during a season rarely happen, what do you think Marist could do to get young kids and families back?
JGood RESPONSE: 1. Immediatley terminate Martin and Lanier. Marist needs to completely dissasociate itself from both of them. It's funny someone posted that Martin is a nice guy and we should keep him around - nothing could be further from the truth! Look at the facts and his results and I am sure there is a lot that we don't know. Throw Martin out! 2. Have AD Murray issue a statement that Lee is new head coach. Lee was assistant coach for Northwestern, had 10 years of experience as an assistant at Columbia University including the last six as the Lions' top assistant and recruiting coordinator. Paul Lee is rated among the top assistant coaches in the country by Basketball Times. I pick Lee unless Murray has something better in the works (notice AD Murray has been at all games-something - thank God). 3. As far as getting families and the student body back, we need "positive" leadership for the Men's program (Martin and Lanier scream profanities which I am sure drove the children away). Just look at the Women's program (not a bad idea to have Brian Giorgis speak with Paul Lee). 4. AD Tim Murray and Dean Murray need to sit down with Lee and make it very clear that the abuses that took place under Martin will no longer be tolerated and make Murray read the Marist Athletics Mission Statement. Lee needs to do the important things that Martin completely neglected like positive reinforcement of the players, building up of players self esteem and a geniun interest in the players. That will lead to these kids hitting more baskets because their heads will be on straight and accordingly more wins for the team. Do that and McCann will be filled again and more great players will pour into Marist! I apoligize for not being more positive, but someone had to expose the Martin deathcamp. He killed his players spirits and now he is killing our school spirit.

Petagay77 or should I say, Chuck Martin stated: LEE YELLS AT THE PLAYERS MORE THAN ANYONE HAS EVERY SEEN MARTIN DO IT .. WHAT GOES ON IN PRACTICE IS "HE SAID, SHE SAID" ..
JGood response: That is precisely why I stated: AD Tim Murray and Dean Murray need to sit down with Lee and make it very clear that the abuses that took place under Martin will no longer be tolerated and make Lee read the Marist Athletics Mission Statement. Lee needs to do the important things that Martin completely neglected like positive reinforcement of the players, building up of players self esteem and a geniun interest in the players. Fact-Martin runs the entire show at the game, not Lee, Weeks or anyone else.
As far as what goes on in practice, God help the players based on what we have witnesses at the games over the years.

Goodwin and Hall, both chosen as captains by Chuck Martin, are out on Athletic suspensions. Another great move by Chuck Martin.

Guys if jgood is Goodwin than we know why he is on athletic suspension get to your school work young man LOL.
Jgood welcome to the board. Stop crying about the way these men are being treated should the coaching staff hand out hot coco and back rubs this is D1 basketball almost any coach is going to give you hell. These players get a free ride to top school do your job and play with some heart.
And if any players are on this board you can hate CM now and it does not cost you anything but years from now when you working for a company and you make $350k a year because of the education you got from a top school and you have a family and you dont like your boss, Don't do your job and watch what happen I tell you this much this board will not be talking about it but you wife will.
