The student body will like him when he wins... We know how fans are..
I like Bowie, Carter, and Prescott getting tons of minutes. I'm sort of disheartened by Price's play. Why can't he beat a press. They had a few real silly giveaways. I will say this. As bad as everybody thinks Marist is, Siena isn't much better and Marist is getting valuable experience this year. If Kemp develops something other than the backdown baby hook, he'll be the best center in the MAAC. The clips I've seen of Morton have me really encouraged. He's light years better than most of the guards in the MAAC right now, including Hall and Price. He's faster, stronger, and off the charts with his handle. Let's hope for 4 or 5 more wins this year and that will set the table for next year. What do think CM should do with Rob Johnson's scholorship? I'll make the assumption that we see a much better Menelik next year. I think we're set with bigs.

Watson has proven nothing other than he can let down his teammates and coaches. Another big would be needed, hopefully a PF.

I agree. We could use another 6-7 or bigger guy. A rebounder! Don't need 2s or 3s have plenty of those. will have (in theory) 3 point guards so we are set there too. The more bigs the better

Menelik sees like a good kid. He can atone. A Spongy type would be nice. Agreed. We have Price, Morton and RJ. Prescott should get all 30-35 minutes at the 2. He's developing a scorer's mentality. I don't see Candon having much of a future unless he turns the shooting around and limits turnovers. WW didn't have many off nights. I think he spoiled us. He was pretty darn good. Would you guys like a stud JUCO frontliner?

ggaff you are right Siena is not a whole lot better then Marist right now - we did still lose at home though. I watched the game yesterday and I still got to say many really know how to find positives in everything.
What I wonder is are we improving or have other teams dropped to our level - our OCC record would lead me to believe that we have not improved as much as other teams have dropped making it look like we are getting better.
When one thing looks better other things fall apart. Last year we where all excited about our outside shooting (mainly Rusin) this year NOONE can shoot from outside - and Rusin has been given up on by the coach who recruited him (apparently a year of coaching has not improved Rusin), Rob Johnson was fed up with the coach who recruited him, and Watson was either miss recruited or not prepared properly by the coaching staff. Hall is inconsistent and here I do agree with most of you that Morton will fix THIS problem - although I am going to be curious to see if Martin has the balls to start him over a Senior.
But where is out outside game going to come from? If they can't fix Rusin then what? And I am appalled and embarrassed at the way he is treating Bauer. I can't decide if this coach has a loyal bone in his body - Johnson, Rusin, Watson, Price, and now Bauer - Price has only 3 more min than Prinsloo - would not be shocked to see more defections.

Would you guys like a stud JUCO frontliner? Menelik does seem like a good kid. I like the way he interacts with his team mates. He is always paying attention when on the bench. But he still has lots to learn. Hope that happens. Spongy was at the game last night! After the Drummond experiment I doubt we will see a JUCO or transfer here anytime soon. I don't know if that's the coach's or the athletic director's decision.

Nomar, personally I dont think there will be a problem with Morton starting over hall due to the fact about what has happened to Bauer. I can't believe Prinsloo even played in the game and Korey didn't get his minutes. But with Rusin I almost agree with his playing time right now. I love his shooting but his D and turnovers were terrible IMO and Prescott has really been stepping up his game

I agree CM would have no problem starting Morton over Hall. But only if he gives us a better chance to win. (that could mean win in the future) See next comment.
With Bauer, he is not one of CM's recruits, strike one; he is not part of the future, strike two; the past does not seem to matter to CM, strike three.

I do wonder about the offense. Bowie has a great mid range j. He needs to get that look 5-8 times a game. He'll hit 50%. Keep feeding Kemp. He'll score and draw fouls. Gotta be good from the line. The one thing that puzzles me is what Lee's influence. Northwestern always ran a nice offense. Doesn't he have a say??? I think Kemp, Prescott, Bowie, Carter, Alexis, Watson, and Carter are a nice nucleus. Add Morton and Thomas and we have something. I do think Prinsloo has potential. He's a baby in terms of overall experience. Hall and Price aren't a bad duo. Just have to clean up the sloppiness. I don't know what can be done with Candon. I don't unforced errors are the coach's fault. Maybe he just wants him to watch and settle down. Unless we're around the team 24/7, I don't think we really know the whole story about playing time. Why aren't these questions asked? That's one of Marist's problems. Up here in Albany, the coach of Siena gets grilled by the media and is asked tough questions. I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing for a program. Coach Martin should be asked about Korey, Rusin, etc. In the beginning of the year, nobody would have given Marist a chance to beat Siena. I do think if they win 5-8 league games, that would be a normal progression. Next year will be the key year. If it's not 10+ league wins, I'd say the program isn't where it should be in yr 4. I guess Chuck spoke at the reception last night. Why doesn't anybody ask questions?

But where is out outside game going to come from? If they can't fix Rusin then what? I think Morton can help in this area alot. He's going to draw more attention than any PG on the roster right now and that should open things up for others. I gotta believe Morton will be able to find open players more quickly and with more accurate passes than what we have now. As far as who will convert those open looks...Prescott has shot from outside much better of late. He's 41-119 (34%) for his Marist career and that should go up if Morton gets him more open looks. I don't think Rusin should be pulling any minuted from Sam at this point but he shouldn't be totally scrapped either. If he can find his stroke again, 10-15 mpg in a three guard lineup at times should generate some open three point attempts for him with a superior PG playing along side of him. I think Bowie may benefit the most. He quietly is an excellent spot up three point shooter. I can see Morton and he connecting on many dish and treys the next few years. Also Morton himself is a pretty good three point shooter I believe.

nomar33 made some really good points. I was disappointed that Korey didnt get to play much in last nights game, his experience and leadership alone should warrant him some minutes and atleast all of Prinsloo's minutes. I know Candon has not been shooting well but benching him and playing him so limited after he was our most consistent player last year is NOT a way to build on this KIDS confidence. Devin Price's confidence is completely shot. He does not play with the same demenor he did last year and you can tell hes playing tight out there. I would not be surprised if Morton started over RJ... Not because i think he's better (which at this stage i dont) but because CM will be able to use the reason of "we're starting 3 underclassman" for everything. I am a little disappointed in Menelik because i do not think he has found his niche on the court. He has showed some positives but not the consistency needed. He needs to get in shape physically but mentally as well. He could be a dejuan blair type player in the MAAC The one thing that I do NOT understand is why Anell Alexis does not play more! He was the best player in the scrimmage and is one of the more atheletic players on the team. Hes long witha decent handle and can get to the rim and shoot. I dont know why hes not getting a consistent 15-20 minutes a game. He has a lot of promise and is only a RS freshman. I also thought Rob Johnson was a pretty good player with a TON of potential. Im sad to see that he transferred I wish i could have talked to him before he left. He was really popular amongst the team and students as well but it is no secret that he was just fed up with CM. I hope he finds somewhere else to play. I was impressed with Adam Kemp last night mainly because he held his own on the block against a PRO in Rossiter. Kemp may be the strongest player in the conference... If not than by next year for certain

Korey should be getting more time, but he didn't play well at all when he got time. He looks tired all the time. A lot of really bad shots. Airballs.. I was expecting a nice senior season out of him.
