CTFoxFan: My point that you quoted was to the Georgian who took the position that everyone that suffers from depression should be thrown out of the school. Hmm where did I take this position?

Reddy - maybe my personal attack was uncalled for, and as far as my writing the Journal to do their job. Of course the school isn't going to publize this - and I truely wish the Journal didn't publish the complaint. Had it never come out I'd have been fine with it but if you publish the first part you better damn well publish the second part.
Also there was no need to quote anything from Kat as the journal put it up - if they did the same for the affidavits I wouldnt have quoted anything as people could read them. Yes it is public access but not everyone will find it or pay for it.
I my anger came not from people thinking it was right or wrong but from people thinking the school did NOTHING. I was tired of the posts that said "she reached out for help and was thrown out" NICE SCHOOL. Or other posts that inferred that the real reason she was let go was cause of her relationship with a teammate - like Marist has issue with the gay community (which I hope it does not"
I know too many people in the administration and in the athletics department not to know how much they care about those kids and how far they will go to help them to listen to people throw them under the bus like they couldn't wait to get rid of her.
Again we are not talking just about a poor girl who was depressed and talked about suicide once - no she kept bringing it up over and over even while she was getting help. Where is the line drawn where an institution needs to say hey take time off and concentrate 100% on getting well?

reddy, In spite of what you may feel, I believe the vast majority of this panel has a genuine concern for Kat's well being. It also seems you may have a personal connection to this topic. Without getting into details can you reveal if Kat is recovering? Some good news about her health would be a great way to close this thread.

I've never doubted that anyone on this board wants anything except the best for Kat. My gripe has been with the school who, in my opinion, treated a young girl who was asking for help, very badly. If a son or daughter of mine ever had such thoughts, I would want them to reach out to someone -- a teammate, a coach and a counselor in Kat's case -- and tell them the thoughts that they were having. Its not right, in my opinion, to then take those pleas for help and use it as a basis to expel them from school.
I don't have any knowledge of Kat's present condition. I, too, hope she is well. I'm simply a Marist grad who is also a lawyer (no involvement in Kat's court case) who, as you might have guessed, has a liberal bent.
