I wish I could pinpoint the reason my college basketball interest dropped off a cliff in the past 5-10 years. It wasn't NIL or transfers, maybe it was just Marist being bad for a long time, but it's not like I'm suddenly invested now that we're decent. The NCAA tournament is still fun but the season is a slog and the players are random names I've never heard of. For someone my age (68), I think part of the reason it’s a slog and the players’ names are random is that there are too many games to watch. When I was young, there were a few network games on the weekend, and the Big East game of the week on tape delay on Monday night on Channel 9 in NY, and if you had a local team to watch in person that was probably fun. So, sure, we knew nothing about 90% of the teams in the country, but we knew who was on the top teams, we picked who we rooted for from that small group, the players stayed for four years. We even recognized announcers’ voices and styles. Shooter, I’m sure that wasn’t your situation as I suspect you are a good deal younger than I and, look, I just spent a chunk of the morning watching Fairfield women, so on one level I like having perpetual games to watch. Just thoughts.

Unfortunately with the amount of money the cbb makes it's only fair for players to get share. Maybe the NCAA didn't approach the right way but it's at least nice to see students get a share (and not be suspended for a free dinner)
Also, all these players have AAU coaches in their ear. And those coaches want to boost their resume by saying "look I have a player in P5" when maybe that player should just be a high mid-major player.
With the amount of players transferring and it not working out, I hope players start to stay a little more in a play where they have success

Someone posted about going to the Marist-Quinnipiac game and it was terrible. His comments stuck with me because win or lose, 50-48 is not good. I saw two A-10 games yesterday, a league above the MAAC, and both games were not good. VCU’s offense is to drain the 30 second clock. VCU-UMASS must have had 50 fouls.
I watched Purdue-Mich St. today and it looked like a hockey game.

My youngest is at Kentucky, and they get whomever they want and don’t win the tournament anymore, but in any game, Dillingham or anyone does something I’m glad to have seen. And they win or lose scoring 100 points, but you just don’t see that anymore.
