The first place Fairfield Stags (18-10, 12-5) come into this game riding a 3 game win streak and looking to solidify their hold on the MAAC’s top spot. Marist (15-10, 10-6) is currently tied with Niagara and battling to earn a bye in AC.
The January matchup was less than competitive as the Stags jumped out to a 14 point halftime lead and extended it to 21 by the final buzzer. Marist played that game without Max Allen. Just as problematic was their lack of ability to contain Caleb Fields or Brycen Goodine who tallied 33 and 14 points, respectively. Since then Fairfield has added Alexis Yetna a 6’8”, 230lb graduate center to the mix for 15 minutes a game.
As I’ve noticed all season Marist has performed poorly in games against teams whose lineups are dominated by upperclassman and grad students . Binghamton, New Hampshire, Lehigh, Quinny…..are the games that stood out in that regard. Tonight’s game could give us a good idea just how much Collins and Pascarelli have grown since the game in Fairfield. They were dominated offensively by the FF guards last time out. To have any chance to win they need to make their opposite numbers work and feel less than comfortable on offense. Of course, the wild card for the Foxes is the availability of Max Allen. As we saw last game, the offense eventually stops working without his scoring threat and ability to share the ball out of the post.
We’ll see……..
Go Red Foxes!!!

Fields is a beast. Have to control him. No word on Allen, eh?

i'm suprised we haven't heard about Allen this week , that is probably a good thing ,if he had a small break or something of that nature we would have heard about it by now .

I hope I am wrong, but this is worst matchup for Marist in maac. Our strength is our depth in guards. FF matches that, but theirs are not as young as ours. Allen gonna be needed for 20 plus. Need a boost from a good crowd too.

These are the teams that must be beaten to win in AC. SPU with Washington is another.
Show me time

Allen is available. Won’t start, but will play. Eggink said he looked good in warmups. Not favoring the foot.

Good start. Fierce defense. Right in their grill on the perimeter.

When your opponent is shooting .16% you would hope to have a lead

What a difference a poor shooting night makes. A score to warm John Dunne’s heart.
