also it isn't that they are losing - they are not even competitive
Go back to the 2019-20 team -
they had 8 girls with FG% greater then .400 and one at .385, and 3 girls shooting the 3 at greater then .400.
Our best 3 point shooter this year would be ranked 6th on that team.

Maybe Coach E should reevaluate her staff below Volchok. Just because you worked together with them under Brian doesn't mean you have to keep them now that you're in charge.
We're certainly not seeing the talent development. Scouting opponents, well it's hard to tell if they're good at that or not. Maybe they are and the kids just don't follow the plans.

The older announcer summed up the problem with the Marist offense perfectly. They telegraph their passes therefore it predictable. Their spacing is lousy and the ball gets stuck in a guards hands resulting in a desperate shot at the end of the clock. There is no motion to the motion. Open or not Canisius shoots 35% from the 3 point line but they kill you in the paint. Marist chose to shut down the paint but Canisius shoots 60% from 3. So then they go away from the plan and Eleko goes off because Marist’s posts are either 2 small or too slow to cover her. Sometimes even a smart plan doesn’t work. The program is just in a bad place. The problem is Coaching, Coaching, Coaching!!!!!

No some of it is NCAA & Marist - we keep Weimar and this is a very different squad.
It doesn't matter if we find a young up and coming coach, if they are not given resources it won't matter. - (I will repeat myself over next few months I am sure) - 1) 15 scholarships (on Marist), 2) $ to recruit overseas (on Marist), 3) NIL $ - not sure where this falls, coaches begging, college finding NIL partners, Alumni to step up and create fund......
We are NOT getting our 1st or 2nd targets at times because we cant afford them.....

1 hope she turns it around 2 if she doesn’t have two ALL-MAAC rookies come in or some real impactful transfers and they win single digit again she is in trouble Coaches won’t look at her as been given only 2 years they will see her as being there 20 years and involved with recruiting every kid on roster. These are her players no way around it. Yes she aided in the recruiting but it is still different when she is actually the coach. I still think you need to give her at least 3 seasons to see her full potential with recruiting.

No idea if on radar - just used as an example She looks good but she probably not in interested because she would be playing at a lower level. There probably many players in DII that are out there. Always remember MEG was the top recruiter for her 10 years. After that the recruiting wasn't very good.

Jaroz, Henningsdottier, Hands, Gilmer, Vander Weide, Duffel, Best, Barcello, Krick, Zaria, Fisher, Weimar - all good recruits - problem was they brought in some head cases as well.

They need to hire or appoint someone to work on NIL....
I told this story before but gonna tell it again because it truly shows just how inept or how little the college cares.....
One of my fellow soccer player passed away in 2021 (from class of 1990) around the same time a player from class of 2002 passed away. Just on a go fund me page we raised a quick $15K but we wanted something to last to make an impact on the soccer program (women and men) so we decided that we wanted to create an endowment for soccer.
We created a BOD had 18 members from various years, including some strong financial alum - we have conference call after conference call with various Marist Administration asking for help. They barely did anything - they sent us a spreadsheet of all Marist alum soccer players (60% of the contact info was bad). I asked for introductions to some high net alumni from the 70's and 80's and I was sent a list saying that these people we open to a conversation. I called the first three on list and non of them had any idea why I was calling and were not interested. I couldn't even get a virtual introduction from the college.
Also it was a year later that we found out that there was a family who sponsored a small soccer scholarship already - non of us knew about it, and the college never mentioned it. The big contribution from the school was "we can give out a small soccer ball to everyone who gives $1000 or up" - are you fucking kidding me.
After 4 months of this shit the momentum ended..... and no endowment.
Football has a successful $2M raise so it can be done. They just need someone who knows how to fund raise, can send clear message about what is needed and what X $ will mean to the program. At our level we are not talking $100K players we are talking about $5K-$10K per player that can probably make a big difference.
I am hoping that the "athletic study report" covered this.
Outside of the post card you just got for the general Marist fund - have any of you be approached about a specific team? All those successful years in the Red Fox club after the game was fund raising ever brought up? Had there ever been an auction to support a team?

Did we know how hard this current staff hits the recruiting traill? It's imperative they find a couple hidden gems.
