The second game of today’s Marist athletics day/night double header features your Marist Red Foxes (6-2) taking on the UMES (Univ. of Maryland Eastern Shore) Hawks (2-6). The Hawks are led by leading scorer and rebounder 6’7” forward Troy Hupstead averaging 12.7 and 9 per game. Davis and Ellis also average double figures for the Hawks. Three Hawks shoot 37% or better from 3. UMES has wins over Cairn University and University of Pennsylvania. They have faced a challenging out of conference schedule losing road games at Temple, NC State, and Marist’s upcoming Friday opponent the University of Notre Dame. The Foxes come into this one on a 4 game win streak and, of course, would like nothing more than to stay hot heading to South Bend. As you recall, Marist was without the services of Brickner (knee) and Harris (shoulder) at Dartmouth. Vegas riding the hot hand in this one and has Marist as much as a 9.5 point favorite. They must have gotten the injury report already. . Shake off the rust early. Focus on the tasks at hand. Earn the win.

This should be a 15+ point win

UMES has to be pretty good to beat University of Pennsylvania, who was good enough to beat Villanova this year and also easily took care of Bucknell in similar fashion to us. IF I could bet this in New York, I would take the points and feel pretty good about it. I'm not expecting an easy win.

I just looked them up in Kenpom and they are 351 and their current NET is 335, so maybe it will be easy, but how did they ever beat Penn who is around 177 in each of those rankings? ?

UMES is literally a mess. They are bad. The only chance they should have is if Marist comes out really flat with layoff, and if we are missing multiple players. UMES did play a good game against PENN, but rest of results flat out stink. A nice sustained lead and win by 8-12 or more sounds about right. The one thing UMES does well is shoot FT. Make them hit from field.

Any word on Harris or Brickner availability yet? Marist MBB Twitter account just sent out a photo of Harris during warmups. Has a brace on his left shoulder. But he appears to be in the warmup line.

Hopefully he shoots the lights out.
TM might object given the cost of light replacements. Got to protect that budget as he likes to say

Price is in the starting lineup tonight. Looks like we might have another injury?

Allen and Brickner both on the floor, guess everyone is at least reasonably healthy

Really not that great of a half from an execution standpoint and yet still a very comfortable halftime lead. Sign of being a better team than in the past I suppose, gotta expect they’ll be better getting points in the board in the second half though
