To quote the clash it is now time: “should I stay or should I go” time
Do the west coast Freshman stay?
Did the run in MAAC save Dunne and Murray?
Is there anyway to replace Gardner?
I do not see how we don’t take another step back when you lose your most dominating player.

I slightly disagree. I'm assuming they stay. The PC made me think this group loves their coach. I think experiences build teams. Hate losing PG. Super player and an even better person. I think this run made us so proud. I think this is a building block. And I think runs like this will make all of the returning players better . Love the coach. Love this group. And the elders taught the kids. We got down on performance never on character and effort. And they were a young group. My glass is definitely half full. Players see this and like this kind of vibe. I really liked the poise that Salton Brickner and Daughtry displayed. Look at the way JD improved at the line. That kid has it. Now they bring in the new kid. I think Belton has potential. He consistently displayed the ability to get that baby hook off. Good offseason for him might be big.
I was as high on McCool as any. He learned from watching. He's got a great all around game. I'm optimistic. Now the AD or whoever's job it is needs to run with the momentum and get fannies in the seats. Any idiot could build off of this. The AD better not be same ol same ol..
I watched the nice 5 minute run again. This is a team that the average fan would love. You've got a 6"11 guy hitting threes and acting humble. A senior who played limited minutes (Tyler) remembering how talented he is. That kid is a winner. I hope they can fit him in for an extra year.
Thanks team and coach. We needed that. ..

Remember , we won 11 regular season games with Gardner .not saying he wasn't phenominal but youre asking can our team can get better ..I'm not worried about the portal .I would hope that all the players stay .For players that quietly thought of transfering before the tournament run they can view it in two ways .One with the success and comradery they want to duplicate that next near .or Two ..It raises their stock to leave as many of them wouldn''t have gotten a good look at by other D1 schools before the run as many of them have struggled unlike the 6 that left last year .we aren't going to find another gardner but we will find players with great skill sets to better our record from this year ..i have confidence in Dunne and Company for that coming off the heels of coming close to going to the big dance and using that as ammunition to get propspective recruits ..

I think the biggest positive might be addition by subtraction with the rest of the league's graduations.
Siena loses Stormo and Platek. Rider losing Murray, Powell, Betrand. Q losing Balanc, Nweke, Williams. Manhattan losing their top 5 scorers including Nelson.
And then there's guys like Dezi Jones, Thomasson, Benjamin, Cook, etc. Who might transfer out.
If everyone else stays (of course a big "if") it's "just" about replacing Gardner at this point. No small feat, but hopefully an easier sell if the roster isn't completely empty like last year.
Daughtry will get more minutes at the 4, and had a solid year. Hopefully improves his 3 point shooting. Nwankwo who just committed shot 35% from 3 and can dribble and drive. McCool as well hopefully helps as a good passer with the ability to hit shots. So their should be some size stretching the floor at the 4, if they do end up with a more traditional big man.

I do not see how we don’t take another step back when you lose your most dominating player. Yes. I’m not sure either of them are really on the hot seat. Dunne just got extended. TM’s bosses had to sign off on that. The values underlying Marist’s approach to athletics are still in place and TM is the embodiment of them. TM is in place until the athletic mission (winning more, maybe?) changes in a way that prompts him to retire or his bosses think new athletic departmental leadership is necessary to accomplish a new mission. No and yes. With a single player? Probably not. The year’s offense ran through Gardner and his unique skill set. A new leader is going to have to emerge. Change the offensive scheme to one that incorporates a more balanced team oriented scoring approach and traditional post players and, sure, you can. Agreed. Probably take a step back because Gardner was so unique, dominant, and, most importantly, reliable in the clutch. That being said, it isn’t written in stone that the team can’t improve over the course of the season with new leadership emerging and be an ascending and very competitive young team come March.

Also most likely Pitino which could mean Players like Clayton and Junior Joseph could follow suit. Hopefully this tournament gave the roster some experience to have an improved regular season. We’re only losing 1 player, yes he was incredible, but other teams are losing so much more

If Marist can keep the freshman, signs are pointing positive. Not going to find another Gardner, but I do think Dunne can find another impact d2 transfer or 2. He can point to Gardner's success and tell the recruit, "look, we proved we will give you guys a chance to have a big role, join us".

Well this is great to see. Obviously starting PG continuity has been lacking after Byrd and then Ituka transferred.
I think if he gets more comfortable from the perimeter like he did in AC there could also be an opportunity for some 3-guard sets with Collins, Harris, and Brickner moving to the 3 in a Herasme role (but better ballhandling). Could give the team more options with Gardner graduating.

Nice job by Dunne and Co but running 4 guards out there and the future next Gardner is not a strategy. The entire athletic department needs a jolt and that begins with Tim. Actually, it probably starts with gutting the athletics hating board of directors. Hopefully this little run will spark Weinman who can convince the changes are worth the money and will ultimately bring a net positive cash flow into the school.
