Doughty took the job fully aware that she was going to report to TM and has known him for 20+ years. She has seen first hand how the Marist Athletic Department rolls regarding opportunities and limitation for coaches and their programs. I can’t imagine she took the job without discussing/knowing under what conditions (if any) an additional scholarship could be funded. Masochist? I guess it depends what the expectations are. Magarity coached mbb for 20 year and never won a championship with players he recruited. She could bump along for the next 20 years playing .500 ball, graduating players and running a clean program. That’s pretty much how Marist sees athletics. An ambitious athletic department would have made sure that BG had 15 scholarships and a budget he never had to worry about overspending. I’ll never get over that comment by TM.

I agree it helps for recruiting, but I personally find it almost embarassing playing in an arena and it’s empty (again, I know recruiting it helps) but I personally would rather play in the McCann when it was sold out almost every home game vs a few hundred people in a nice arena

Anyone else think that Fairfield’s investment in new arena is paying off dividends already in spades North Texas plays their games in the UNT Coliseum a.k.a. "The Super Pit". It's a two level arena that holds 10,500 fans. She took a step down in facilities to play at FF. I get it. Marist plays in a high school gym miss-named as an "arena". FF has a super true on-campus arena. FF's arena undeniably helps make a great first impression. But in the end it's the staff ability to use their contacts and relationship building skills to close deals. That's what we will find out about the Marist program over the next 2-3 years.

I can’t see her aspiring to be another Parity. But what do I know?

If there was ever a time for Marist to step up and give Erin the full 15 scholarships it is now - even if it is just short term Current Roster 12 Allotted Scholarships:13 NCAA: 15 So Erin still could bring in 1 more kid in portal - but what if there are 2 great kids - why should she have to chose? Going into 2024 - we only have 1 for sure scholarship available - Erin Fox graduates.... won't know if Fisher and Zaria use 5th year here or not? Erin needs that flexibility. Let's see if she is capable of signing 1 great kid with the one available and then maybe another could be available. The coaches need to step up to, Murray isn't recruiting.

Kinda sad that the most exciting update have gotten from Marist SM - is "HEY - We can't do ANYTHING for next week"

I really don’t understand why this is a rule. It doesn’t make any sense.

Most MAAC WBB programs have tweeted out a similar graphic. Important to them to let recruits know in no uncertain terms:
"hey we're NOT ghosting you, we just are literally not allowed to acknowledge your existence for the next 7 days."
These are teenage girls they're dealing with, after all.

http://instagram.com/p/CsKLC8GPd1y Seems to have dealt with injuries so far in her career. Not many minutes logged. But a player from an A10 school that’s had success. Could be a nice get

"Not many" minutes? That might be generous, I see a total of 2 minutes this past season. And sat out '21-22.
But agreed could definitely be a good piece, hopefully can shoot the three.

This is another good get for Erin -
This is exactly what she needs to grab out of portal - we are not getting a kid from Fordham who averaged 15.7 ppg - they wind up at Norte Dame. She was highly recruited out of HS - had offers from Wichita St, FAU, Manhattan, Columbia, Cleveland St, and URI, she also made it through 1st cut on USA Women's U-16 team at one point.
She is a shooter, who injury was to NON-shooting hand (so that is really good news)
