Maybe I'm on my own here, but it'd be great if there was more of a supporting cast. Who else on the team tries to create their own shot? Most of the 4s and 5s don't have a low post game, and the wings aren't able to hit open shots. Fisher and Shazer are shooting 46% and 41%. Take them away and the team shoots 33.6% from the field, which would be 342nd in the country. I'd prefer more of a team game, but that requires the staff recruit better players. You’re not on your own here.

At least WBB has a band wagon to fall off of. The men’s wagon crashed into a ditch over 15 years ago and has rotted where it fell.
All of TMs decisions and all of TMs coaches haven’t been able to put it back together again.

my honest opinion on what is wrong with college basketball as a whole? Our current generation of kids. All it takes is a mad player to say "coach yelled at me". "Coach made us run, how dare he!". "OMG, Coach used a bad word in practice!". Coaches can't coach now. I honestly just want our God of a coach to get through this year without a current primadonna causing him a issue. Hopefully we have none of those at Marist, but it is rampant all over college nowadays. Our generation has raised spoiled entitled children.

Marist can get back to what they can be once they recruit a specific type of player. Marist needs players who will fight every second, put forth effort every second, be a good teammate every second. Marist needs more Erica Allenspach types. Use her profile to recruit. Best player in Marist history.

So many good areas of discusion on this particular thread. I really wonder who is the coach this year. The team is not a BG team. I believe that BG is so comitted to the incoming coach that his vision needs to be returned. It beaks my heart to see such a spotless record over the past decades leave with this mess. It won't however tarnish what he did for 99.9% of his career. To those athletes that want to set personal records -- that is not team work. I don't incluse KK as part of this problem as she has been a TEAM player throught her career at Marist.

IMO the Allenspachs, Dulins, O'Connors, and Coffeys of the world are gone not to be found again. This generation of player is more about I then team - not saying everyone but if I was going to compare todays players to the rosters from 2010 yeah very much so.
Freshman Year 2010
Ockenden - 11.6 mpg O'Connor - 9.0 mpg Dulin - 7.9 mpg
Freshman Year 2022
Piddock - 17.9 mpg Croker - 7.2 mpg Tompkins - 8.6 mpg
Yet todays freshman (maybe not Piddock) aren't thrilled with PT.
We have exhausted the talk of what the transfer portal has done to the sport - made it so easy to quit if things get tough, or you are not getting your way.
Last years transfers:
Emma Wax - she has found a home in D2 - getting wins and PT Anabel Ellison - is seeing her PT diminish as she continues with a .295 FG% and .246 3pt% Tranasia Kennedy - is seeing less then 5 min a game at George Mason - I feel for her.
Wax and Ellison were never happy at Marist.
There is no denying that Fisher and Zaria are talented, the most talented on the roster, but they are not going to get us wins with their style of basketball. Spend time watching Fisher's eyes coming down court - they are focused on finding Zaria or driving to the hoop every time. Fisher is also our most productive 3 point shooter @ .385.
Can you take them off the floor right now and not lose a game by 20-30 - no. Can you coach them to get more people involved? You can try but I don't see it happening. We need to stop saying they are running the motion because Zaria is a motion killer - once she get ball near paint it is over. She is going to get a shot off one way of another.
Tompkins, Piddock, Crocker, Cunningham, Fox, Bailey, and Donnelly combined have not attempted as many shots as Zaria.
Piddock and Tompkins were sought after recruits who had A10 offers and Tompkins also held an offer from Quinny - so they seem talented. Coaches who run the Gym Rat Challenge have told me that we got something special in Piddock - so I am still very much under the impression that when given the reigns she will succeed.
This year is going to be what it is - we will beat the St. Peter's of the world but will get stopped by the Quinnys and Ionas.
Zaria and Fisher are not going anywhere - they will graduate from Marist and play their extra year elsewhere (just a prediction)
I so think we have our PG of the future on roster in Piddock I do think we have a 6'5" Center in Maeve next 2 or three years depending on what eligibility she is granted.
We will lose - Bonilla, Krick, and Bailey to graduation and I do not believe any would be offered the Covid year at Marist
I hope that Rife has had enough and looks to finish elsewhere - but not sure where she could go for a free education - she would need to be just that unhappy.
Tompkins, Croker, and Cunningham - is there more to their games? There better be.
We have 2 signed for 2022-23 so far but no way is that it:
Julia Corsentino - 1000 point scorer - true SG @ 5'9" and a strong 3 pt shooter (hit 77 last year in HS) - she also had numerous A10 offers Kate Robbins - 6'1" (still growing?) - is having a nice senior year - not a lot of DI offers coming in but we have had those gems before - think Duffell.
So here is where I am hypocritical - I don't like losing kids to portal but at same time I want to use it to improve team (Im good with any grad student Marist or other entering portal)
We need 1-2 transfers preferable another big and a defensive specialist/shooter (yeah easier said then done) - the one advantage of getting kids from portal is that you can at least count on them staying until graduate.
This team is what it is - .450-.500 team, they just do not play like a team all on same page.
One thing I have noticed is that this group doesn't seem to have the drama last year brought.
Also if Caitlin Weimar doesn't transfer we aren't having this conversation

Thanks for posting the photos. Tough loss? Sure. Plenty of season yet to go though.. They are one other player stepping up between now and March from a finish in the top 5.

If I was Fisher I would leave, she has the skills that give her the chance to play on a team that could be in a game the actually matters.

Fisher would have to sit a year next year
So for her - she might as well play at Marist next year graduate and go play covid year somewhere else. Other wise the extra year is wasted on sitting
